Suicide Bomber Hits U.S. Convoy in Baghdad
Today's episode ...

"A suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden vehicle into a U.S. military convoy on the airport road in western Baghdad at about 7:30 a.m. (0430 GMT)," the source said on condition of anonymity.

---

Earlier on Wednesday, insurgents waged a well-planned attack on an Iraqi police base in Madain, some 30 km south of Baghdad with mortars and gunfire, killing a commander of an Iraqi public order battalion and three policemen, a ministry source said.

"Insurgents pounded a base of the al-Salam public order battalion in Madain area at about 4:00 a.m. (0100 GMT) followed by a machinegun and rocket-propelled grenades attack," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Iraqi security forces in Madain involved in fierce clashes with the insurgents and surrounded the area, detaining some 50 militants, including a Syrian national, he said.

Among the most well-known is the case of Debra Lafave, a 26-year-old reading teacher in Florida accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy in her classroom, car and at home. Her plea deal sparing her jail time and giving her just house arrest was thrown out and her trial is now slated for April 10.

5. That's what it says ...
They closed the airport a couple days back, "to avoid violence" or something like that.

12. ????
You really get the feeling that command authority isn't there anymore. They just keep the dog-and-pony show in the Green Zone going ("OK, everybody in their places, we're about to go on-air! Whoops, duck, incoming!") and the rest of the country (and our troops in it) is left to wander around in the chaos. You get the feeling that the only organizations with their shit together are the various militias and resistance groups.

"the only organizations with their shit together are the various militias and resistance groups"

Gee -

Ya think?

America the "superpower" getting their butts kicked by a nation that never even got ONE plane off the ground

And most of the "insurgents", rebels, whatever will CONTINUE until the bitter end for one simple reason

THEY BELONG THERE!!

The USA is an Invader and an Occupier - they DON'T belong there

That's Just My Simple Canuk Mind talking tho . . .

6. The insurgents could strangle Baghdad if they worked at it
It's apparent the insurgents control, or have the potential to control, all methods of ingress and egress to the capital.

So the question is: why haven't they tried to strangle us?

19. The obvious question.
If you can't secure the major point of ingress/egress, what can you secure?

Initiate Murthas plan now, any Dem that doesn't support something like Murthas plan at the very least is helping us to stay in there much longer.
