Bush is on his way to West Virginia. Press has been sent inside to the Briefing Room. Package is outside Northwest Gate. Daryn Kagan notes a "lack of urgency." She thinks she's spotted a large white truck, and a "robot." And she reports the robot is on the move. Dana Bash now on the scene outside the Executive Office Building. She sees the truck also, and reports a "sense of calm." Package was thrown over the WH fence.

Man who threw package now in custody, according to Secret Service. Man has thrown non-dangerous items before.

than you would think. I used to work in a courthouse, and every once in a while they would find a suspicious bag that had been abandoned and blow it up. Once it was some kid's schoolbag of books. Another time it was some CDs. It's usually quite harmless.

Suspicious Package Found At White House

(AP) WASHINGTON Law enforcement officers on Wednesday investigated a suspicious package left near a gate at the White House.

The package was noted just after President Bush left on his helicopter from the South Lawn - on the other side of the White House - for a trip to Wheeling, W.Va. Reporters, cameramen and photographers were told to remain inside the briefing room while officers investigated.

Were it not for the fact that he will be surrounded by deadly people for the rest of his life, and the possibility that it might be illegal, I'd put a flaming bag of poop on the former President's doorstep, every evening on my way home from work.

I'd also steal the President's garbage, and sell his burnt poop covered shoes to the highest bidder on some Powerline-approved Internet auction site.

I'd also make a documentary film about it. Not about the flaming poop, although that would be an important part. The show would be about the ex-President catching himself on fire and falling off the porch every day. He'd be falling off the porch because he's always wearing two left shoes. Because the right shoes all have shit on them and are for sale on the Internet.

The climax of the film would be the ex-President, covered in crap and with his bare feet on fire, saying, "I think I need a fire extinguisher."
