Stevie Wonder and the list goes on... We just lost him to the big C. What a guy, what a career. Couldn't be categorized. He was the one who gave us those beats on all those Chic songs... GOOD TIMES, FREAK OUT - back in the days of Studio 54. Unlike so much disco, those songs hold up. Had a nice run with Power Station in the 80's. Played Live Aid. Did tons of studio work. Diana Ross, La Belle. Lots more. Most of all, he was a great guy, a family man, loved by so many. If you can check out an old Chic album cover, yeah that's Tony, a gangly, 17 year old kid from Queens, N.Y. riding high, single handedly inventing a drumming style that would definie dance music. BUt when the disco ball stoppd spinning, Tony moved on. Rock is a tuff biz. It's even tuffer when you are a drummer. Not many guys are talented enough to reinvent themselves like he did. Look for a tribute concert in the L.A. area some time soon. RIP Tony.
