Gen. Abizaid says Iraq not on verge of civil war
http://www.krqe.com/expanded.asp?ID=14411

CAPITOL HILL -- General John Abizaid says Iraq is not on the verge of civil war.
He admits the situation is serious and while he's concerned about the religious violence there, Abizaid believes it is controllable.

Abizaid, who is the Commander of US Central Command, told the House Armed Services committee that a majority of Iraqis "are trying to hold the country together and not pull it apart."

But he says it is "absolutely essential" a government of national unity emerge soon.

Abizaid spoke as the House began considering an emergency spending bill that includes more than $60 billion dollars for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

... I am glad that is all settled. :eyes:

4. Good - I had been losing sleep over that
but if Gen. abizaid say it ain't civil war then I guess it isn't. All those people getting blown up every day might feel different of course but they just can't see the big picture like the good general - in fact they can't see any picture now that they are fuckin dead. Have you notice that all the people who are denying it's a civil war are the same people who predicted a cakewalk? And we should trust them because?

8. 1863 - Colonel Rufus P. Abizaid: US civil war "only a rumor."
Colonel Abizaid stated that despite some "sectarian violence" in Eastern Virginia, reports of a civil war were nonsense.

he sounded like an artificial (cyber) voice. Does he always sound like that?
