White House rejects GOP lawmaker's call for shakeup

WHITE HOUSE The White House is rejecting a Republican senator's call for a staff shakeup.

Press Secretary Scott McClellan says President Bush has a "smart" and "experienced" team that is "fully capable."

Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman said yesterday the administration has developed a "tin ear" in dealings with Congress. And he says Bush needs to "look at" the team now serving him.

Coleman cited the White House handling of Hurricane Katrina, the failed Harriet Miers (MY'-urz) Supreme Court nomination and the plans for an Arab company to manage terminals at six U-S ports.

19. Senate Dems wouldn't point out or exploit a Republican crack...
if George W. Bush were pantsless molesting a farm animal on national television, and the camera shot him from behind.

We have some terrific Dems in our party, but we also have a lot of high-level "enablers" who are making way too much money off of the Republican power/cash grab. It's really way past time that we kick ALL the bums out, whoever they are.

16.  "smart" and "experienced" team that is "fully capable." - yes they DO!!
.
.
.

They've successfully advanced the PNACers' agenda in getting BILLIONS of taxpayers dollars to invade and dominate the Middle East.

Meanwhile they succeed in reducing benefits to their own citizens of the USA, gleaning tax-breaks for their already super-rich buddies -

Nah, that team may be evil, inhuman, and so on, but they ain't stupid.

And Lawdy knows they are "experienced"!! The PNACers have been deceiving the taxpayers for decades.

And "capable" of much worse . . .

count on it

(sigh)

18. Coleman was trying to shill for Bush during Katrina hearings
Coleman's not the only one calling for this; he's just doing it publicly.

I'm worried that if the Dems don't get moving on the Censure Res, they are very soon going to be battling a fresh crew in the WH all primed and ready for battle. Just because the WH is saying 'No' today, in no way reveals what they are actually doing. Duffy just resigned, and probably some other staffers that haven't received more than a mention (sort of like when Claude Allen left, his troubles notwithstanding).

22. W.House dismisses speculation about staff shake-up
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush's spokesman on Wednesday dismissed calls for a White House shake-up as "inside-Washington pontificating" after a series of controversies that have pushed his approval ratings to new lows.

"The president has a smart, capable and experienced team that is fully committed to helping him advance his agenda and get things done for the American people," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan.

A variety of critics, including a member of his own Republican Party this week, have complained it is time to bring in some fresh faces to jumpstart a White House team that has faced crisis after crisis. Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman (news, bio, voting record) cited as the most recent example a Republican revolt over an Arab company's attempt to manage some terminals at six U.S. ports.

Bush's job approval ratings have tumbled to their lowest -- a CNN/Gallup/USA Today poll put him at 36 percent this week -- and the White House has struggled to get its footing ever since New Orleans was swamped by Hurricane Katrina six months ago and the federal government was blamed for a bungled response.

Every time the administration announces something like this, they go ahead and do the opposite.
I suspect some major changes in the near future.

Maybe they can start with Cheney, then Rove, then Card.

31. The "adults" in charge need adult supervision?
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 06:15 PM by Thor_MN
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/03/15/bush.staffing/index.html

According to sources involved in the discussions, some veteran Republicans have been quietly trying to convince White House chief of staff Andy Card to bring in at least one "adult," like a former senator or another "experienced hand," to help him reach out to congressional leaders, troubleshoot and, in the words of one source, "just be in the loop and give advice."

There was a quote earlier, now pulled, attributed to an anonomous source that said "The Bushies have proven that 5 people can run the country for 4 years and one day." I think it was a typo, my version is "The Bushies have proven that 5 people can ruin the country for 4 years and one day."
