Chavez denies inviting Hamas to Venezuela
Mods, I don't know where to put this, as it conflates two different sorts of flamebait.
:popcorn::popcorn:

Caracas - President Hugo Chavez denied reports that he invited the Palestinian group Hamas to visit Venezuela, but stressed that relations with the Palestinian people remained strong.

"There's no official invitation," Chavez said on Tuesday during a joint press conference at the presidential palace with visiting Uruguayan President, Tabare Vazquez.

"We have very good relations with the Palestinian people, from the time of (the late Palestinian) leader Yasser Arafat, and we'll continue keeping good relations with those people," Chavez told reporters.

The possibility of a Hamas visit to Venezuela was raised in early February by Brazil's O Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper, which quoted a Hamas spokesperson as its source.

2. Sometimes it's hard to tell
if those eyes indicate sarcasm or annoyance...

Do you have a link about that or are you being facetious?

Thanks!

Peace.

4. Just helping do the administration's job --
making sure the American public know it's all about the Iranians. Can't have a headline about the Middle-East without the Iranians being behind it.

You didn't get the memo?

3. do you mean the Anti_American Chavez?
I am so sick of hearing that from the lou dobbs show every night. Chavez is Anti-bush and anti-American policy. That would be like saying that I am anti-british because I fucking hate tony blair. It makes no sense and clouds the issue.

rant off!

8. I find the practice irritating as well.
Labeling Chavez "anti-American" is a propaganda tactic that is designed to plant in the minds of U.S. citizens through repetition the notion that Chavez is the enemy of all U.S. Americans. However, I have been watching the situation in Venezuela very closely for several years now and I can say with a high degree of certainty that Hugo Chavez has never made a remark that can be honestly construed as "anti-American". He has of course on many occasions criticized U.S. foreign policy, but I tend to do that often myself (to the horror of some of those around me because I can be rather long winded about such things).

When the corporate media employ such tactics they reveal yet again that they labor on behalf of their masters, the corporate oligarchs and fascists and cannot be trusted to speak the truth.
