Marines to conduct urban training in downtown
http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060309/NEWS16/603090375/-1/NEWS

Once again, the sound of gunfire will ring through downtown Toledo as Marine Corps Reservists participate in urban training.

About 300 Reservists from Company C, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, headquartered in Lansing, and Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, headquartered in Perrysburg, will conduct patrolling and convoy exercises. The training began last night and will continue through 9 p.m. Saturday.

The Marines will wear desert digital camouflage uniforms, carry rifles, perform foot and motorized patrols, and fire blank ammunition during the exercise. These are routine exercises held to enhance the unit's proficiency in urban and other tactical operations.

Marine officials said the training will have minimal impact on area residents. They asked that citizens stay 30 yards from any Marines taking part in the exercise.

and I don't think he falls into the "no prophet in his land" thing. He is just crazy. There are plenty of other not insane people who are concerned abour martial law and such.

25. If BushCo aren't Reptilian...
Edited on Thu Mar-09-06 11:25 PM by Blackthorn
...then how do YOU explain their seemingly endless desire for human pain, suffering and eventual control over all living things. You are human (presumably) and you do not feel the need to experience or create these things. Yet BushCo does. And don't say "money" or "profits", because even fat rich pricks know you that when you die you can't take the money with you. They love negative energy. The negative energy created by, say, letting an entire city die after flooding it. Or destroying entire countries. I don't see how you can label the drivers of that behaviour as simply money.

28. dude I'm happy to concede the metaphorical point
But David Icke thinks lizards LITERALLY rule the world, or at least he has cultivated an extremely detailed or sustained ideological narrative that asserts that. Ergo, he --> crazy.

I just happen to agree with him. I guess that makes me crazy too

But seriously, some people believe in God, I believe in Reptilians. Is there a difference? Is any belief system more crazy than another?

5. Minimal impact?
They asked that citizens stay 30 yards from any Marines taking part in the exercise.

Have they gone around with loud speakers to announce their intentions and made certain that every soul in the Toledo area has been warned?

Have they posted this information at all points of ingress and egress around the city?

This is utter bullshit :banghead:

6. What would happen if...
A group of "citizen militia" did not get the word and saw armed soldiers in camo, carrying power rifles, shooting around town and decided that it was an invasion or a terrorist attack?

Then again, maybe that is exactly what the Current Regime is hoping will happen.

7. They're doing it in Virginia, too.

NORFOLK -- "Bam, bam, bam," barked the Jordanian sniper's AK-47 from a second-floor window.

Twenty yards away, a squad of Marines ducked behind mud-colored huts in the Iraqi village. Eyes and M-16 rifles scanned nearby windows and doorways.

"Man down!" The sniper's bullets had struck Lance Cpl. Scott Tate.

Squad mates grabbed Tate by his flak jacket and dragged him 50 yards away while firing their rifles. Several women screamed curses in Arabic.

18. "the Marines made a wrong turn and got lost"
While the danger of being blown up by a roadside bomb is very low in Norfolk, the problem of driving unfamiliar streets is real. On the way to the practice raid at the armory, the Marines made a wrong turn and got lost. That can happen in Iraq.

Isn't that what happened to Jessica Lynch?

36. In the early '90's
The containership I was on would be "attacked" by Navy Seals while we were leaving Norfolk. They always won, especially since there were not enough people to defend the ship and the average age of the crew was about 57.

I would walk into the coffee lounge to find a bunch of smiling black-clad commados, armed to the teeth. They seemed like nice people and they always refused coffee. I offered them tours of the engine spaces but specified the guns had to stay out (for safety reasons).

After we left the harbor there would get back in their speed boats and blast off.

Bizarre memories....

11. There is totally no need for this....
I have been on training manuevers many times. What they need to do is have a mock up city training compound built (there is one in NM) and run it there instead of frightening and possibly unintentionally injuring a civilian. I am really getting worried that the line between citizen and combatant is being intentionally blured in the minds of our soldiers. That line was crossed at Kent State and the military pulled back. I am afraid the next incident will have a vastly different result. These Pentegon folks need to put their dicks back in their pants instead of waving it around every where.:eyes:

12. Exactly.
The training here is conditioning for the troops: getting them used to the idea of conducting military operations against our civilian population. Drill, drill, drill, not a drill.

16. Get some young malliable kids...
train them in intense situations (basic training), give 'em guns, and let 'em go. Next thing you know it's testosterone and bullets everywhere. I was older when I went to boot camp. There was a real difference between those of us over 24 and the pups. We tended to engage our brains first. This really does look like a prep for the military (not NG) to be used stateside.

33. Correct,
however the actual purpose of putting this sort of "exercise" in a city is to anesthetize the population for the upcoming use of troops against US citizens. This is a psyop, and if the people of Toledo accept, then chances are this will become commonplace and will mark the end of Posse Comitatus...this is still the law of the land, by the way. Bush is violating your constitution and your society.

14. Toledo must be the training ground..they just had a training exercise
maybe a month or two ago. Hubby tells me they came from Grand Rapids last time. So that means this is the 3rd time they've been there within the last year...that we know of.

I'm curious how many other cities are having these exercises.

Here you see actors posing as American civilians in a military dention camp. The actors were told to beg for food and to loudly declare that their rights were being violated, meanwhile the military loudspeakers blared "civil disobedience will not be tolerated."

27. had this same shit years ago.
Gloucester City NJ. US Army held mock battles in the old abandoned factory area. gunfire, a constant flow of helicopters till the wee small hours. the only advanced warning was the Police Cheif was told of the event 20 minutes before the start. no one knew what the hell was going on. the residents at a nearby senior citizen apartment building were upset about the commotion, and rightly so.

Gloucester City is full of very old wooden houses very densely populated. when they burn they go quickly. what if one of them helicopters had a problem and crashed into a block of wall to wall houses.

something is up IMHO.

32. I saw these guys Thursday night in downtown Toledo
I was driving by a gas station on a very busy street Thursday about 6:30pm and all these guys in fatigues holding big guns were lined up the length and depth of the gas station property line, very close together. They did at least leave the driveway access open so the business wouldn't suffer -- except in terms of some customers being too scared to pull in. It looked frightening.

This isn't the first time these guys have trained in Toledo. I don't know what's making them choose our city for this stuff. But like someone up thread I worry that somebody will think it's a swell idea to take some shots at them. The area where they were was not the best.

34. This was done a couple years ago, and there was a shooting.
I think it was in South Carolina. A cop pulled over a car (of "commandos"), there were weapons, and someone got shot. The police had no idea there was a "training" exercise off the nearby army base.

Maybe someone else remembers details.
