Former White House staffer named to head DHS policy committee

The Bush administration has been excoriated for appointing politically well-connected but professionally inexperienced people to important positions at the Homeland Security Department.

A recent appointment may do little to quiet those complaints: The department announced that a 28-year-old former White House staffer is heading a policy committee that gathers expert advice -- on behalf of the president and the Homeland Security secretary -- on key areas of homeland security, including threats to infrastructure and preventing terrorist attacks that use weapons of mass destruction.

Douglas L. Hoelscher is the new executive director of the Homeland Security Advisory Committees and the "primary representative" of department Secretary Michael Chertoff in dealing with more than 20 advisory boards. Among them is the Homeland Security Advisory Council, which includes such high-powered figures as Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, former Lockheed Chairman Norman Augustine, and former Defense and Energy Secretary James Schlesinger.

Hoelscher has no management experience, a review of his professional credentials shows. He came to government in 2001 as a low-level White House staffer, arranging presidential travel, according to news reports. He earned $30,000 a year, salary documents show.

3. Reminds me of the guy from the Indian Affairs hearing
that said he was a nobody when they approached him and asked him if he wanted to be the head a national organization ... and he said, what they heck, ok.

Anybody else remember that guy and see a similarity?

7. Why did he get the job?
With his youth, inexperience and undescended testicles, they know he will do what THEY tell him to, and not stray off the reservation into...oh, say...ethical behavior.

6. I couldn't resist Googling the new executive:
I found that he was, but no longer is, listed on Friendster. Said is favorite book was the Death of Outrage: Bill Clinton and the Assault on Am. Ideals. Then I checked out this:
http://www.hlswatch.com/category/dhs-news/
and found an interesting blog on DHS. Definitely a freeper creation, but there is some interesting info., such as the DHS jobs and comments about too many people reporting to Ch*rtoff.

13. 'too many people reporting to Ch*rtoff.' Brownie gives him a 2 out of 10,
with 10 being "best." Brownie says he'd never hire Jerkoff but would hire *.

Brownie says he'd give his own Katrina Performance 5 out of 10 and he gives * same score if I remember right.

Bush performed better than Jerkoff, according to Brownie. That means worse than the hideous, incompetent dangerous moron* who should be impeached.

14. The fact that Brownie gave himself a mediocre
score just shows that you can't trust him as an evaluator of *. He has to rate Jerkoff as worse than his own performance, as Jerkoff was his immediate supervisor and he failed to back him before Katrina was even a breath of air in the eastern Atlantic. Jerkoff was marginalizing all of FEMA. I agree, he gets a a failing score. But so do Brownie and * in my book.

15. the staffer said that he wouldn't be left on his own: "There's plenty of
adult supervision" at the department. That makes him sound like he does not know when to wipe his nose without being told. Sure makes me feel safe. Bush is an incompatent idiot.
