Graham Eyes Grounds for Bush Impeachment
CONCORD, N.H. (Reuters) - U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Bob Graham said on Thursday there were grounds to impeach President Bush (news - web sites) if he was found to have led America to war under false pretenses.

While Graham did not call for Bush's impeachment, he said if the president lied about the reasons for going to war with Iraq (news - web sites) it would be "more serious" than former President Bill Clinton (news - web sites)'s lie under oath about his sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

1. And this ISN'T someone on the "far left" calling for that, either...
Let's just say that, with the media whores, someone like Bob Graham saying it gives it a certain, er, "gravitas"! :D

Plus, Graham's on the Senate Intelligence Committee. THAT should carry some weight, as well. :eyes:

B-)

2. and he has a race car
I'm a Dean supporter, but I got to say I like what Graham says. And while he doens't have the 'grassroots' that Dean does, the Nascar thing is pretty cool.

5. I'm in a cranky mood
so read with this in mind. Sometimes when I read the material here in DU I feel like I'm part of the flat earth society. Bush impeached? Comparing his situation with Watergate? I just don't see this happening. Your American citizen is far less enlightened, far more apathetic, and, thanks to our mainstream media, far less informed than back during Watergate. My prediction is that the Mepuplican machine will till this back into the soil, saturate prime time TV with Michael Jackson stories and the extra-marital affairs of some liberal, and Joe SUV will gladly vote for the Dark Angel again. It's all about how this mess has been portrayed in our media vs. the U.K. media, the result being that Tony will go down in flames whereas the stench in the oval office will stink right on into 2004 and beyond. They seem to have things all sown up, even right down to the friggin piece of crap scandal rags at the checkout stand (which continue to focus on the Clintons, Martha Stewart, Michael Jackson and any other enemy of the clan, with nary a negative about the *). You've got to hand it to them: They know how to reach their constituents. I've called the senators who've taken on the task of waking America up and have thanked them, and I keep checking my sources for really big news. But all we get is conjecture, and too many levelheaded folks predicting that this will pass fairly quickly for *. I look around my neighborhood at my flag-waving, yellow ribbon festooned, big gonad truck driving neighbors and realize that smirk has a firm grip on things, and Canada becomes more of an option. Man. You don't know how wrong I hope I am.

7. Understandable. 23% of Americans think 'things are going well in Iraq.'
There is your core know-nothing constituency. It's kinda hard to convince people we're in a boat on fire when so many don't even see the ocean all around them.
BUT! How about using Hyper Patriotism to defend the Constitution from the BushNazis complete with fife and drum music like a 4th of July Chevy truck ad to reach those sheeple?

10. They're not Know-Nothings
They know everything. Problem is, they get it from Rush and Faux. That's why they appear, to rationale people, to be so delusional.

Hell, there are probably at lot of people in North Korea who believe they live in the best possible country in the world.

Whether the Big Lies are enforced or self-imposed, it really doesn't make any difference.

My questions is, short of civil-war, how does one go about "reconstructing" these people? How do we have a de-Nazification program to deal with these people that's consistent with our constitution?

It's one thing to have a scary bunch of 1%ers who belong to the militia, etc. but having somwhere between 20% and 30% of the electorate with this sort of delusional world view is problematic, not to mention scary.

8. I understand what you are saying
I do think a lot of dems are getting their hopes up. I don't know how you can impeach the guy when the repubs have the majority in both houses. Unless McCain, Snowe and some others are as outraged as the dems are and join up. In Watergate, plenty of repubs were disgusted with Nixon-like Howard Baker, one of the old school GOP guys from before the religious freaks took over the party. During Iran-contra, a far worse scenario than Watergate, the GOP closed ranks and supported the brain-dead president and his lackeys.
I don't care so much about impeachment, but I hope you are wrong about the 2004 elections. I hope the voters are paying attention and that the media keeps investigating.

9. Just getting the word out there is a big deal
People might just hear the word and actually start thinking that maybe all is not well with this Administration. I agree actual impeachment is a pipe dream but hearing it on the news is bound to raise a few eyebrows. Drip Drip Drip is the only way to break the spell America has been placed under. Mass Hypnosis is hard to overcome. Only constant bombardment will break the spell.
