McDonald's McAngry with dictionary word "McJob"
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=857&e=12&u=/nm/oukoe_leisure_mcdonalds_dictionary

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Dictionary publisher Merriam-Webster has hit a McSore Spot with McDonald's over the inclusion of the word "McJob" in its latest Collegiate Dictionary.

The latest edition of the dictionary defines "McJob" as "a low paying job that requires little skill and provides little opportunity for advancement."

In an open letter sent to the media on Friday, Jim Cantalupo, chairman and chief executive of the world's largest fast-food chain, took issue with the inclusion of the word and definition.

The definition "is not only an inaccurate description of restaurant employment, it's also a slap in the face to the 12 million men and women who work hard every day in America's 900,000 restaurants," Cantalupo said.

3. McDonald's protestations will only make things worse for them
I believe that Hormel either sued someone (an ISP?) or threatened to over the use of the word "Spam". And you see what good that did.

This also reminds me of the poor diet candy people in the late 70's and early 80's. Does anyone else remember their ads: Lose weight with the Ayds diet plan. It didn't take them long to go under after the disease became prevalent.

You have to wonder if people eventually figured out that eating scads of caramel candies wasn't exactly the best way to lose weight.

6. Oh Brother....
"a slap in the face to the 12 million men and women who work hard every day in America's 900,000 restaurants," Cantalupo said.

No Pal...it's a slap in the face to the 12 million men and women who
work hard that Corporations like yours exploit their help by offering
slave wages, lousy health care, Etc...

And one other thing Pal: You offend me and millions of others by
calling your Hamburger Shacks "Restaurants".

Calling McDonald's a Restaurant is like calling a Yugo, a "Limousine"

McDonald's were chosen for this dubious honour because a) everyone's heard of them, b) they're bullies who threaten legal action on almost anyone who dares criticise them, c) there's stacks of in-depth information available about them (thanks to the research that's gone into the McLibel Trial), d) the nature of their business means loads of contemporary issues are relevant, e) they pioneered various unwelcome practices which other companies have followed and f) they take themselves far too seriously.

8. Funny McDonalds story about their McJobs
a friend of mine was looking for a job after High School before going to college. He applied for the job at McDonalds and when they called him for a phone interview they were extremely serious. When they asked why he wanted a job at McDonalds...his reply was "Because its too late to run in the presidential primary"... his smart ass reply ended up losing him his opportunity to work for them....alas he just went on to become a radiologist if I recall...hee hee..

10. Those evil McJobbers are too funny!
And just how would this McCantalupo dude define "McJob"?

McQuote:

"The definition "is not only an inaccurate description of McRestaurant employment, it's also a slap in the face to the 12 million men and women who work hard every day in America's 900,000 restaurants," McCantalupo said."

Still waiting for the McJobber to reply.

And I would have to agree with Radicalliberal, they got some nerve claiming to be a restaurant.

These Canadians are living beyond their means," said Hirschfeld. "I will admit, I've never seen anyone with with a $2,100 balance until I met Josie. I know I'm supposed to be helping, but Jesus that girl has got to have a super-sized eating disorder!"

In addition to McVISA users, Hirschfeld counsels individuals who have problems with the "Dairy Queen Debit Card", Wendy's "Whopper Card", and Burger King's "King Kredit Kard."

Pros
Cheap food, cheap prices, cheap food, fresh ice tea.

Cons
Cheap food, poor training for employees, cheap food.

The Bottom Line
I'll still go for the Kids Meal toys and cheap burgers - then again I do have a death wish.

From the demented mind that brought you the “One Person Write-Off” and “The Pauly Shore Tribute Week”, Freak369 proudly presents The 31 Flavors of Horror.

Striving to provide you, the Epinions Community, with a well rounded, informative and fact based review I have taken the ultimate step. About a month ago and a half ago I took the first steps in what some may call undercover reporting. This wasn’t something that I took lightly; it involved a few weeks of planning as well as almost completely filling a notebook with details. So how did I do this? I donned some ‘street clothes’, drove to Mc Donald’s, asked for an employment application and downplayed my previous jobs in order to get a part time position. Yes, you read it correctly; I took at job at Mc Donald’s to bring you a behind the scenes review of what really happens behind the counter. Warning; You may never want to visit a Mc Donald’s again after reading this review.

Before I delve into the meat of the review I need to set the stage with a little breakdown of the people who trained me, worked beside me and eased my transition from Lego Mom to Burger Mom. All names have been changed and no matter how much you bug me, I will not reveal the exact location but it is in a San Diego suburb

The comment section was kind of funny too

16. Pretty funny site. Although a bit scary.
""There is more than one restaurant chain that would like to get their hands on our patented Jack-Fry recipe," confirmed Mel Haroldson, security officer. "Before the makeover we caught an insider selling samples of the grease to some Middle-Eastern firm. Perhaps they only wanted it for falafels, who can say?"

Uh, I think they plan to grease their tank tracks with it.

..Now if we could find such a simple word to describe a job at Wal-Mart. It would be so cool to piss off the anti-worker slimebags in the evil empire. WalMartyr doesn't quite do it for me.

McDonalds cares so much for the 12 Million they employ that if any of the employees attempt to form a union they shut down the restaurant, fire everyone and build a new one across the street. McBastards, also limit employee's hours so they are not working a full week so they don't get McBenefits. McJob is putting it mildly. Give me a McBreak today! DickMonalds needs to get a clue.
