Rioters clash with Afghan police, NATO(Day 2)
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Thousands of rioters clashed with police and NATO peacekeepers across Afghanistan on Tuesday in demonstrations against the Prophet Muhammad drawings, officials said. One person was killed and scores wounded.

Two passersby, both women, were hurt when hit by stones during the demonstration by about 200 people outside the NATO base in the northwestern city of Maymana, police said.

Norwegian troops used tear gas to disperse the protesters, said Squadron Leader Annie Gibson-Sexton, a spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force.

In other protests against the caricatures published by Western newspapers, some 3,000 people threw stones at government buildings and an Italian peacekeeping base in the western city of Herat, said a witness, Faridoon Pooyaa. No one was hurt

1. UK sending troops and reports of 2 deaths
Nato is sending British reinforcements to a riot-hit Afghan town after crowds protesting at cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad attacked peacekeepers.
The British contingent is being sent to secure the airfield at Maymaneh, a Nato spokesman told the BBC.

Two demonstrators are reported to have died after crowds tried to storm the town's Norwegian-led peacekeeping base.

2. Sad
I grew up in forced Mormonism. All I can say is fuck men and their pathetic need for dominance and superiority.

Fundamentalists are animals. Long live free speech.

3. These riots are not just about a stupid cartoon
most people have never even actually seen these cartoons.

This unrest is being stirred up by the PNAC black ops, in order to get their war going. This has little to do with anyone's free speech.

4. as i've already said
the muslim streets are always "outraged" over something. the cartoons are a convenient rallying point this time. they have corrupt and violent leaders as well.

not everything can be blamed on our idiots.

6. It's not hard to start a riot
Some of them are spontaneous and some of them are purposely provoked. The ones we are seeing now are provoked.

7. NATO Base Attacked by Protesters
NATO peacekeepers exchanged gunfire with protesters who attacked their base Tuesday in another day of deadly demonstrations in Afghanistan over the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad, officials said. Three demonstrators were killed.

In neighboring Pakistan, 5,000 people chanting "Hang the man who insulted the prophet!" burned effigies of Denmark's prime minister and a cartoonist.

The most violent demonstrations were in Afghanistan, where thousands of rioters clashed with police and NATO peacekeepers across the country.
