US Senate Candidate Sheeler (D - RI) - 'Impeach Bush!'

US Senate Candidate Sheeler (D - RI) - 'Impeach Bush!'

Carl Sheeler, 45, a Democrat, business owner and Marine Veteran is seeking Lincoln Chafee's seat as well as seeking to unseat "King George" for his violations of the US Constitution. Sheeler alleges that, among other things, he has lied to the public and damaged foreign relations and our Democracy. He expresses leadership is not always popular or a majority opinion, but no operson is above the law.

Providence, RI (PRWEB) February 2, 2006 -- Rhode Island Statehouse. Democrat U.S. Senate candidate, Carl Sheeler, 45, an outspoken, 70’s style Democrat, called on Rhode Island Congressional leaders to join US Representative Conyers (D-MI) in his impeachment hearings of President George W. Bush. Sheeler has stated Bush’s infractions are far more egregious than former President Clinton’s and opens the way for China to replace our global lead.

“Good afternoon. It’s time we as ordinary citizens stop talking and start acting to bring the change we want to see in OUR America . Otherwise, how do we tell our kids we watched the President’s State of the Union Address and did nothing? His is a partisan machine of fear and empty promises. His version of the un-Patriot Act reduces our rights and freedoms while claiming to bring Democracy elsewhere in the world. I’m much more optimistic. We can do better. We deserve better. I say honor our troops and declare victory. Start withdrawing our troops from Iraq. Then we can invest in our American communities and improve our domestic security in Rhode Island and elsewhere. Now that is Patriotic.

I’m seeing many frustrated people who opposed Alito, as I had. But we can act to fix the problems with this country, such as the imbalance of powers and foreign oil reliance. It’s simple really. It’s time to fire the CEO of corrupt politics and this begins with a populist drive of citizens demanding our Congressmen begin Bush impeachment hearings. Otherwise, how do we explain how this post-Katrina, uncompassionate conservative succeeded in weakening our standard of living for most Americans, gutted Medicare, is working to reduce veteran benefits, tried to do in Social Security and is shifting the burden of healthcare costs from big business to our public with 46 million uninsured? How do we explain an amoral President who does not get results and is violating his constitutional oath to faithfully execute his office by his gross incompetence, indifference and disregard for our nation and other nations’ citizens?

Will be interesting to see if Chafee steps up to support impeachment ... wishful thinking, perhaps, but maybe he's on the fence.

12. YES! GREAT line. Just STELLAR! I am mightily impressed with this guy!
This is GREAT and we should support him, and start making noise about him. Might push Chafee more to the left, too, which would be fun. He would piss off his republi-CON supporters who'd look to somebody else of a more knuckle-dragger variety. The moderates and liberals would flock to this guy, and Chafee'd be squeezed out. BOOM! Another DEMOCRAT in the SENATE. One with IMPEACHMENT on the tip of his tongue.

That is so profoundly important. He and others like him are exactly what we need - more people speaking out with more gusto and greater and greater public profiles - urging IMPEACHMENT. The more IMPEACHMENT is on the minds and lips of more Americans, the better. As that starts building, the mainstreamers will find it harder and harder to pretend it's not there. Outfits like the Washington Post will have to start including IMPEACHMENT questions in their polling, which they've already insisted isn't necessary because it's somehow not on the radar, or in the public discourse yet. THAT'S why we HAVE TO MAKE IT BIGGER AND LOUDER and MUCH MORE WIDESPREAD. There needs to be an accellerating drumbeat - EVERYWHERE - that grows harder to miss or to ignore - day by day.

THAT'S how we get back the House. THAT'S how we get Democrats in the majority again. THAT'S how people like John Conyers regain the chairmanships of such vital committees as the House Judiciary Committee - wherein IMPEACHMENT can actually be put on the agenda and pursued. But only if Democrats are back in the drivers' seats.

FIRST: we take back the House of Reps, guys.

It's PRIORITY ONE.

Katrina was another 9-11. It was a wake-up call. It was all the evidence we need of the depths of corruption and incompetence the GOP has brought.

I like it. No America, no economy, no war on terror. If you destroy the country, you destroy its ability to defend itself. (Well, unless you just print money til the cows come home, and put the day of reckoning off for another administration.) Post-Katrina we can see that there's another war between the pay-to-play America and the citizens left to fend for themselves.

Carl Sheeler, a veteran Marine of the first Gulf War, announced his intentions to seek the Democratic nomination on Wednesday. His platform's main planks include "withdrawal from Iraq, improved education, and universal health care." Sheeler has never held elected office before, but thinks he can best represent the interests of working Rhode Islanders

26. Latest: CHAFEE MORE POPULAR WITH DEMOCRATS THAN REPUBLICANS
http://www.rifuture.org/blog/

January 27, 2006

ONCE AGAIN, CHAFEE MORE POPULAR WITH DEMOCRATS THAN REPUBLICANS
Latest Poll Shows Senator Chafee is in the Wrong Primary

According to the latest Survey USA poll of U.S. Senator approval ratings, which aired on last night’s WLNE Channel 6 News, Republican Senator Lincoln Chafee is once again more popular with Rhode Island Democrats than Republicans.

600 adults, age eighteen and older, were interviewed for this survey. When asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the job Lincoln Chafee is doing as United States Senator?” only 39% of Republicans approved of the Senator’s job and a whopping 55% disapproved. Conversely, 63% of Democrats expressed approval for the Republican Senator.

Interestingly, Senator Chafee’s Democratic counterpart, Senator Jack Reed, ranked better among Republicans than the Republican Senator himself. This is the 9th consecutive Survey USA poll in which Rhode Island Republicans either preferred Democratic Senator Reed to Republican Senator Chafee or rated the two Senators equally.

“To those who have followed Lincoln Chafee’s haphazard career,” Campaign Manager John Dodenhoff said, “Senator Chafee’s despairingly low approval rating among Republicans is not at all surprising. Senator Chafee has made no secret of his disenchantment with mainstream Republican voters. Time and again, he positions himself to the left of moderate Democrats. He has done it before, and he is doing it again with Judge Alito’s nomination.”

“It is clear,” Dodenhoff continued, “that Senator Chafee is running in the wrong primary. Calling himself a Republican isn’t fooling anyone, unless, perhaps, himself.”

The repug daily news and the clear channel radio barely mention his name. The establishment dems who run the state don't want this kind of thinking, so he gets no party support. He's third in a three way race. I'm not saying all is lost, just that the deck is stacked against him.

Hear hear! It's about time bush's swaggering words about how he was going to run this country like a CEO comes back to bite him in the a**.

What a great line. It bears repeating. It's time to fire the CEO of corrupt politics.

It's got a nice little ring to it, doesn't it, kind of alliterative and well-balanced as it somersaults off the tongue.

57. Many thanks to those who are supporting my stand on Bush
It's Carl. Thank you for your positive feedback and support. I enjoy plain speaking because this is what connects with people. The latest revelations over Katrina is clearly what's wrong with the systemic problems of a corporate government that has no heart.

Don’t worry Cheney and that cabal of corruption are all on my proposed Bush impeachment to do list!

No plastic, no poll tested answers. We want change. We want our dream of America back, we want our democracy back. We want Blue to mean something other than "sad". We want spineless Democrats to walk the talk or step aside so we can take back our government of "We The People."

I need everyones' help. It's really quite simple. Dedicate a few minutes or an hour when you can to light up the blogosphere and send emails and phone calls to everyone you know on this god's creation in and outside of RI as it's YOUR federal seat that is one more to gain to oppose this corrupted government.

I need the dough to pepper the state with these BE PATRIOTIC IMPEACH BUSH billboards and put as many bumper stickers with the same message on vehicles so our message gets to everyone ($10 bucks is 30 bumper stickers or pieces of direct mail and $110 is 1% of the monthly cost of a billboard sign). Our "are you hearing me now?" and "read my lips" messages are unmistakable.

It's often lonely doing this thing, but your simple touches of support make it so much easier to do this every day. Let's get the word out. Thank you again for taking the time to share.

Take care,

Carl

Gracious sakes!

If so, we wish you good luck with all our hearts! You're carrying OUR message to Washington. Actually, it's not just OUR message (here on DU). It's America's message. NO TYRANTS ALLOWED!!! Dictators GO HOME!!!! DOWN WITH DICTATORSHIP!!! No more of this "it'd be a lot easier to govern if this was a dictatorship and I was the dictator" crap.

Do you remember that - just after he "TOOK" office the first time? Do you remember him actually uttering those words? Nobody batted an eyelash, and you certainly didn't hear anyone take him to task in the media. Everybody napped straight through that statement. Well, I was wide awake, as were many here and many others of like mind. That statement gave me chills. None of us could have guessed in our worst nightmares how true that would soon become.

We need people like you to STOP IT!!! AND TO STOP HIM!!!

Everybody I know feels this way, with a tiny handful of exceptions - people still pigheadedly drinking the Kool-aid. Perhaps it's mere denial - nobody likes to admit they've been royally had - or that they were wrong. So they desperately cling to the illusion. Like those poor, broken souls who've lost loved ones in Iraq, or whose loved ones have come home missing an arm or leg or maybe two legs or something else dreadful. They, too, don't dare even flirt with the idea that this suffering or grieving happened FOR NOTHING. DO IT FOR THEM!!! WIN THIS FOR THEM!!!

And start cleaning house.

IMPEACHMENT. It's more than just an option.

It's a NECESSITY.

It's a PUBLIC SERVICE.

BTW - Welcome to DU!

64. Thank you. You have my support from Oregon
"BE PATRIOTIC IMPEACH BUSH"

I think the blue on Fridays is a good idea. It's a way to make our numbers visible since media doesn't help.

Impeachment really isn't an option; it's a necessity. The CEO has waved his treason in our faces and dared America to stand up. The most hopeful thing I've seen recently is VetPAC and Band of Brothers talking about taking back the House and upholding their oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, especially the ones in Washington.

My hopes are raised just when I had despaired.

Thanks.
