Rumsfeld Uncertain Over Iraq Attacks

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Wednesday it's too early to know whether a recent decline in insurgent attacks on U.S. and Iraqi government forces will continue or be reversed.

"They're on the run," he said of the insurgents. "They clearly have a lot of pressure on them." But "it doesn't mean they can't go kill people, it doesn't mean they can't hire people to go out and blow themselves up."

Speaking at a Pentagon news conference, Rumsfeld said the number of insurgent attacks has declined to a level that prevailed before the October 2005 constitutional referendum, but he did not predict that it would remain at that lower level.

"It's not a surprise" that attacks have declined, he said, adding, "It may very well now" go back up again.

Rummy=:crazy:

1. Grannie raises hand...
"umm... Secretary Rumsfeld? When you hire a person to blow himself up, how do you pay him for a job well done?"

2. I love how they have to pretend all suicide bombers are "hired"
just like all the insurgents are dead-enders, Baathists, and in their last throes.

6. There's the known, the unknown
And Rummy, the never-knew, but knows-it-all.

Yeah, they're on the run, Rummy. They're running north, east, south and west of Tikrit, right?

13. You have to admit it -
this old Fool really shows us where his mind is at, doesn't he?

I've heard him talk about "killing people (the Iraqis), death and destruction, maiming, more killing, suicide bombers, insurgents, more death. This man is obsessively focused on death.

He makes Freudian slips all the time.

8. It may be........
that the number of U.S. patrols has decreased since that time as well. The Iraqis are doing more of the patrolling their own lately. Less exposure = less attacks. That Rummy is uncertain is not surprising, he's been uncertain since the first day of this "war". Yet bush stands behind this clown no matter how many American lives it costs. Sometimes loyalty bears too dear a price and bush's loyalty to Rummmy has cost too many American lives. Rummy should have been given his walking papers years ago but bush is too mule-headed to admit it was a mistake. He's never wrong because he talks to god, you see? :eyes:

10. Next, the idiots are going to tell us the suicide bombers don't...
get paid until their mission is complete.

This will surely dissuade them from signing on the dotted line.

11. Rummy reminds me of a cook - watching over his mother sour dough - so
it gives and gives and gives.

I mean it seems like every time the insurgency is facing a real challenge - Rummy does something to pull back.

In this most recent case - just as the insurgency is in talks & american forces have freed up more of Iraq - Rummy announces the USA will cut back on fighting the insurgency and increase the investment in infrastructure.

12. It's not uncommon....
Of course they don't pay the suicide bomber, don't you all remember when Saddam was in hiding and offered mega bucks to the families of volunteer bombers? I can imagine a father with nothing left after being bombed by troops and watching his children starve taking up an offer to benefit his family.

I'd do something crazy if I was forced to watch my children starve....

14. Looky, this assclown's learning how to chart a graph.
Line goes up = attacks on the increase
Line goes down = attacks on the decrease
