Convert to Islam, Al-Qaeda tells Bush

Al-Qaeda's number two Ayman al-Zawahiri has called on US President George W Bush to convert to Islam.

"Ayman Zawahiri called on President George W Bush to convert to Islam in the video recording received by Al-Jazeera," said the channel's presenter.

"If you obey, you will be a brother in religion and God will pardon the past," she cited Zawahiri as saying in the tape broadcast on Monday.

5. If both men would follow Islam

and the teachings of the Qur'an, there could be no terrorism (to kill an innocent is like unto killing an entire nation). There would be no aggressive war (which is forbidden; only war that is allowed is in defense). Poor people would be helped (one of the 5 Pillars of Islam-hey, and Jesus taught the same thing-Hello! The Teachings are the Teachings!).

And Ayman Zawahiri would understand that a true Christian is a brother in religion, as a Person of the Book (note I didn't say Bush, but a true Christian).

God willing, both men will turn back to the teachings of their faiths and begin living them.

16. Suppose We All Did? The Arabs Would Hate It!

Just for grins, suppose that we all converted to Islam? I think that the Arabs would hate it and the al Qaeda guys would particularly hate it.

If the US became an Islamic nation do those bozos in al Qaeda really think that the US would abandon its tendencies towards chauvinism or jingoism? Do those G*d-besotted fools think that the US would become less war-like? Do these prize fools think that the US wouldn't look down on the Arabs?

I don't think so.

What would happen is that the US would be more war-like, not less. Don't believe me? Read 19th century US history and imagine guys like Andrew Jackson or Polk with today's US military at their disposal.

I suspect that American Islam would incorporate a lot of cultural traits that the Arabs wouldn't like. American tele-mullahs would probably decide that Wahabbi-style and Arab-style Islam was probably off-base.

US would probably keep its forces in the Middle East. The US leadership would probably also decide that the Arabs had made such a hash of things in their part of the world for so many centuries that the US should step in and show their backwards Islamic brothers how it ought to be done.
