Durbin To Bring 2 IL Soldiers To State Of Union

(AP) WASHINGTON Illinois Senator Dick Durbin will play host to two Illinois soldiers as his personal guests at the president's State of the Union Address.

...

Both soldiers were wounded in Iraq and are being treated for their injuries at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.

Durbin says these young Illinois soldiers have given so much in service to our nation that it is only fitting that they be a part of a special moment in our nations history.

Iraqi war veteran Major Tammy Duckworth - a guest of the Democratic senator last year -- is now a Democratic candidate for the congressional seat held by retiring GOP lawmaker Henry Hyde. Durbin is now working to help her campaign.

That's what I call "taking a stand." One wonders if your guests will be able to.

5. Durbin has consistently been a fantastic senator
Progressive as they come. I go to school in southern Illinois, and I've met more than one person who has told me that they have voted straight republican all their lives, except that they'd vote for Durbin forever, because he is so honest. That gives me hope that with leaders like Durbin, we can win back the hearts and minds of this country.
