Bush says he'll cooperate with Abramoff probe

(White House-AP) January 26, 2006 - President Bush says he's had his "picture taken with a lot of people" so photos of him with corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff are no big deal.

At a White House news conference Thursday, Bush said there's no reason to release photos of the two. He says taking photos with people is a part of his job and doesn't mean he's "a friend with them or know them very well."

In fact, he told the reporter who asked him the question, "I've had my picture taken with you."

Bush says federal prosecutors investigating Abramoff's dealings are "welcome to" look at the White House if they suspect something inappropriate.

22. yeah right
just like he cooperates with the Katrina Investigation, the WMD investigation, the Plame leak investigation, Cheney's croney crowd energy meeting

in other words -- it's all confidential and a matter of national security so he can't talk about it while an investigation is on going

2. so why not release them? And why not list who Jack met?
I mean why not, if, using your own damn argument, you have nothing to hide.

3. And I have a house in NOLA to sell you.
Running water and a swimming pool in the basement come hurricaine season.

Bush could say the Earth orbits the Sun and is round and I'd run out and join "THE FLAT EARTH SOCIETY."

4. Only if it's "probed" by crony's and not a bipartisan or indepenent
panel. Just like he's cooperating with the Katrina and the NSA probe. Or like he did with Abu Gharib.

5. Kenny who?
We've heard this bullshit before - they grudgingly backpedal one step at a time as the truth becomes too obvious to stonewall.

7. Well, I for one am glad THAT's settled...
For a moment there, I thought George the Torturer would do what he's always done when caught in unethical and illegal behavior: obfuscate, stonewall, and lie...

8. The meetings, big boy
I don't give a shit about the pictures. All we'll see is the Chimp with that stupid grin on his face standing next to Abramoff. Like with so many of others in other pictures. Means nothing.

We should be screaming to see the list of who, when and why Abramoff met with in meetings at the White House. That's when he influenced policy in this corrupt administration and when Bush was selling his soul for money.

24. That is right, but as for those pics, not all of them were IN the WH
Some were in the EOB at a meeting with a small group of lobbyists and a tribal leader or two. Monkey was AT the meeting...that is the shot he is afraid of, I think....

9. WH is still being cutesy and evasive about this. If the photos are
"no biggie" why don't they just release the lot of them and be done with it? Maybe it is because of who else is in the pics besides Jack and George? Maybe a sleazy client or two of Jack's?

18. Even perhaps some corporate big wigs from G.E., the Carlyle Group
Halliburton or who indeed knows. But America does have the right view these photos. After all, we are the government and these people do work for us.

Must everything be in secret for security reasons?

10. SOP. Now that they're "cooperating with an ongoing investigation"
any and all questions relating to Ambramoff are verboten at press conferences etc.

"Our policy is that we don't comment on ongoing investigations..."

11. Seems I recall him saying he'd cooperate with the Katrina probe, too.
But in reality, he has no intention of cooperating with anyone since he's KING GEORGE. :puke: Just more proof positive that everything Bush says is a lie.

12. isn't this typical of moron*?
he is against any sort of investigation then suddenly, like taking the right dose of meds, he's all for it.

Personally, he stone walls until all the skeletons are cleaned out of the closets, papers are burned, trails dusted then when all his bases are covered, he then says,"I was for it all along".

:puke:

19. Y'all can "look at the White House"
But going back to the energy policy meeting at the beginning of this tragically failed two-term administration, I made it clear that I have the right to operate in complete secrecy. So, y'all can look at the outside of the White House all you want to. Cuz, I'm the preznit. Huh, huh, and I can do whatever I want."

29. So, they're not going to release the pics, but they are going to release
the record of WH-Abramoff and Abramoff clients meeting? We will learn, then, what involvement the WH had in demoting Att. Gen Black and promoting "Made in America" sweatshop in the Marianas? We will learn about any WH involvement with Russian and Chinese Abramoff clients? We will learn if Susan Ralston provided a direct line between Ab's business and George's? We will learn if the WH was involved in any of Abramoff's sleazy dealings with gambling interests or in his corruption of the election process? What's he going to do, tell his staff to cooperate like they did in the Plame affair?

I'd bet that he needs Jenna and Barbara to be introduced to him if they are away for more than two days.

When is the Dumbass going to be told that it doesn't matter what HE thinks? He's been on a real kick lately about "I think that what I did was perfectly legal." What matters is what the law says, not what is being whispered into his ears...
