Russia rejects Israeli proposal to impose sanctions on Iran
<snip>

"Russia rejected Israel's suggestion to impose immediate sanctions on Iran in reaction to its nuclear program, it emerged Friday.

Israeli and Russian delegates met as part of Israel's attempts to garner the support of Western and other countries for a "sanctions basket" against Iran.

Russia urged caution Thursday, as did China, when the United States demanded that the United Nations Security Council, which has the power to impose sanctions, promptly confront Iran over its nuclear ambitions. Russia and China, permanent council members with veto powers like the United States, France and Britain, have big trade interests in Iran and are wary of any full-scale embargo.

Diplomatic sources in Moscow said after the meetings with Israeli officials that "Russia listened very intently" to the proposals, but did not commit to taking any measures - a tactful way of saying that Russia has rejected Israel's proposal."

1. Russia and China are not going to sit quietly on the sidelines this time.
The idiot republicans in this country don't credit anyone in any other country with outrage over what's being done by us in the Middle East. They are too stupid to look at the demonstrations and the bad foreign press articles to understand that their boy george's crap ain't going over anywhere else but here with their dumb freeper asses and with poodle blair and his crowd.

I think that they are about to find out that the bush** administration is biting off way more that can chew. In not just the fact that we would then have a third war on our hands (we already have two that we aren't and can't win), but we will have put China and Russia in the position of overshadowing us powerwise and economically.

2. I think it's clear Iran is not going to be referred to the SC.
We are finally seeing the end of dominant US power in world affairs.
