23 DOGS KILLED BY TOXIC DOG FOOD
TWENTY STATES AFFECTED BY RECALL OF POISONED FOOD.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/12/30/toxic.dogfood.ap/index.html

WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) -- Contaminated dog food which was sold in 23 states killed nearly two dozen dogs and sickened 18 more, the Food and Drug Administration said Friday.

The deaths and illnesses sparked an FDA investigation into the pet food made by the Diamond Pet Food Company at its Gaston, South Carolina, manufacturing plant. The FDA said so far 23 animal deaths have been linked to the pet food.

3. People Die From Toxic Food All The Time
and our government doesn't give a damn, why are they going to care about dogs?

Nothing will come of this investigation. At most the company will be fined an amount insignificant when compared to the profits it has made. I am quite sure the Diamond Pet Food Company has bought enough politicians to protect them from troublesome regulations and inspections. And the grieving pet owners won't be able to sue either, because our government has made it harder to bring these types of lawsuits.

Don't you just love living in a corporate owned country?

5. true. But we owe a responsibility to animals
once domesticated, we have to protect them from our own foolishness.

We owe the same responsibility to people, especially those we domesticated. Like Iraq.

But, show me one photo of an iraqi hospital children's ward where they are getting used prostheses because US bombs fell in the wrong area. We haven't seen one ever. Yet, reporters in Europe show it all the time.

8. All the time...?
Can we say exagerate...?

Still, I do care more about some dogs than I do some people.

9. According To The CDC
5,000 people per day (in the United States) die from food borne illness.
That breaks down to over 13 per day, or more than 1 person every two hours.

This does not count any long term build up of toxicity and the cancers or other terminal diseases caused by "bad" food.

Now, excuse me while I go have some cheetos and non-organic vegetables.

4. I'm happy it wasn't Pedigree or Iam's.
We have a foodraiser for our local ASPCA at our Browns-Backers Club in Florida, and everyone donates bags of Pedigree twice per year. And I feed my dogs Iams.

10. As one owned by two cats, let me correct your spelling.

If you are referring to my cats the correct spelling is felon, no feline.

12. Alfatoxin is very prevelent in the South, elsewhere
Peanuts are the most susceptible , most commercial peanut butters have alfatoxin in them. Alfatoxin in small exposure causes cancer. To avoid alfatoxin buy organic grains, peanut products.

14. Utter SADNESS-The owners must be totally grief stricken! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
imagine FEEDING your beloved dog/cat &instead you end up killing it !

And accidents like this are so un-necessary--

Maybe we need stricter QUALITY CONTROL ON all food products from all facilities?

-not only for humans but for all.
