Poll: Bush continues to get poor marks in Michigan
Only 36 percent give president a positive job rating

LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan residents aren't pleased with the job President Bush is doing, although they give him higher marks for his handling of the war on terror than how he is handling the economy and Social Security and Medicare.
In a poll released Friday, only 36 percent gave the Republican president a positive job rating, while 61 percent gave him a negative rating and 3 percent were undecided.
Although some national polls have shown Bush's numbers rising somewhat, his Michigan rating remains nearly unchanged from November, when 35 percent gave him a positive job rating, 63 percent a negative rating and 2 percent were undecided.
Both polls were conducted by Lansing-based EPIC/MRA. The most recent poll surveyed 600 likely Michigan voters from Sunday through Thursday. The margin of error in both polls was plus or minus 4 percentage points.
