1. but its only one guy during the election! Great news. NOT!
Someone here much smarter than I posted something about our keeping count, rightly or wrongly, and how it did not matter one bit what the totals were - the whole issue is all screwed up. EACH life lost is unnecessary. That poster - who ever you are - makes more and more sense.

US marine killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Dec 15 (PG) - A US marine serving in the volatile western Al-Anbar province has been killed in action, the US military said Thursday.

The marine died when a makeshift bomb exploded "while conducting combat operations against the enemy in the vicinity of Ramadi" on Wednesday, a statement said.

According to the last update of a Pentagon website, 2,154 US military personel have been killed in Iraq since the March 2003 US-led invasion.

US soldier killed in Afghanistan battle

KABUL, Dec 15 (PG) - A US soldier and an "enemy" fighter were killed Thursday in a battle in southern Afghanistan, where thousands of US-led coalition troops are hunting down Taliban and other militants, the force said.

Another US soldier and an Afghan soldier were wounded in the gunfight north of the city of Kandahar, a coalition statement said.

"Afghan and US troops were conducting a joint combat patrol when they came under small arms fire from enemy forces," it said.

More than 200 Americans have been killed in the US-led operation to Afghanistan that began in late 2001 with the toppling of the extremist Taliban government for sheltering Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

10. Pile 'em high!

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

Carl Sandburg

Please bring the troops home alive and not in pine boxes
