Bush has plan to strengthen New Orleans levees

WASHINGTON, Dec 15 (Reuters) - The White House planned to announce on Thursday a plan to strengthen New Orleans levees to withstand any storm like the one that flooded the city three months ago, an administration official said.

President George W. Bush planned to meet federal officials involved in the effort and they were to brief reporters afterwards, the officials said.

1. That would be welcome news indeed. But
I guess we'll have to wait and see how effective a plan he comes up with.

3. This sounds like another example of..
.. all promise and no funding.

They've already withdrawn the promised funds for
housing Katrina evacuees.

Sheesh.

18. How is that Bush just promises these things, never delivers
and the press or the Democrats don't call him on it?

31. I thought he would hire beavers
You only have to pay them in food, and there's no worry about healthcare benefits or anything. But they must be american beavers-no illegal immigrant beavers.

5. Faith-based levees... He'll rebuild on the cheap-pray they work...
Actually he's going to build a special "bunker" under the levee walls where he plans to put Cheney, Delay, Abramoff and any indictees from his administration.

6. Or they've finally figured out a way
to funnel more billions of dollars into Halliburton, Bechtel, et al, under the guise of "strengthening the levees." With these bastards one must constantly try to imagine the most disturbing way of spending the publics money, and then apply that possibility to reality.

Such is life for 5 years now. So sad.

Is this like the plan for success for Iraq? He will give four speeches and do nothing else? Probably.

Probably put Rove in charge of this plan too.
