CHICAGO, Dec 13 (Reuters) - U.S. and Canadian governors signed a pact on Tuesday blocking exports of water from the Great Lakes and calling for efforts to preserve the world's largest body of fresh water, officials said.

1. Pretty sad that Canada is fighting for saving the Great Lakes and
thhey lay almost totally inside the US!

I'm sooo ashamed of this administration!!!!!!!!!

3. Only Lake Michigan lays entirely within the U.S.
The territory of the other four lakes is reasonably divided between the U.S. and Canada.

The U.S. governors of Great Lakes states tend to be very, very protective of those wonderful waters, Dems and Repugs alike, surprisingly. If they didn't they'd be kicked out of office, because the lakes are enjoyed tremendously by all, are a real source of tourist income and potable water, and are responsible for attracting industry to the region. I'm talking as a native of one of those states.

I live at the westernmost tip of Lake Superior in Duluth, MN, and I can't tell you how happy I am that they won't be draining it off to help grow tropical crops in California.
