19. Pile 'em high!

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

22. BRING THEM BACK
is what I say to bush.

He doesn't listen to me.

When he said "BRING EM ON" it was stunningly stupid. I couldn't believe my ears, such a callous statement.

When tough guys say "Bring em on" they are part of the fight.

4. Please stop disturbing my beautiful mind with such trivia.
:sarcasm:

"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

Shuffle Your Feet

Time won't save our souls
Time won't save our souls
Time won't save my soul...no

When everything is going down
nothing seem to feel same
no one seem to know my name
no one seem to go my way

but who knows if i'll see you again
but who knows if i'll see you again

One more for the soul-maded dreamers
One more for the wicked man
One more for the peaceful protest
That keeps the war in demand

Who knows if I'll see you again
Who knows if I'll see you again

Time won't save our souls
Time won't save my soul
Time won't save our souls
Time won't save my soul

I never thought I'd see it coming
I never thought I'd ever know
Nothing seems to take me over
Nothing seems to let me go

Who knows if I'll see you again
Who knows if I'll see you again

7. 2 or 3 dead soldiers every day, day after day for years...
... and how many years more? Two at least.

Figure an average of 2.35 deaths a day

2150 dead now

two more years is another 1750 deaths.

3865 total.

probably ten times that many severely wounded.

Now just what did Bush accomplish that is worth this?

8. gawddamn, they called it a "makeshift bomb" again.
They are trying to make the insurgents look like peasants killing our soldiers, instead of the increasingly sophisticated army which they are becoming, with their deadlier and deadlier methods.

11. grytpype your are incorrect
The model the DoD has adopted for the insurgency is the Malaysian which went 1948 - 1960, and this is pretty much what Rummy has conceded and General Casey has flatly stated. So another 7-10 years is the correct estimation. 500-1000 KIA a year and 3000-5000 WIA a year. But, never forget that Rush and Hannity et al are working overtime day in and day out to make sure the meme is planted that if this goes badly it's because of the White Flag Waving Democrats led by Dean and Moore. So much pain... It hurts my heart to think of it...

15. We must be getting near that 10%
force degradation point. I asked two years ago at what point does an army start to feel pain, and was answered when there has been a 10% loss of force and material.
Now with 2150 dead and untold thousands of wounded, the loss of all their material, hardware, humvees, bradleys, helicopters, tanks, sooner or later the cost is just going to be too high.

17. I estimate it's been about 6% right now.
Approx. 1 million U.S. service personnel have served one or more tours of duty there, according to various accounts.

2,150 dead
16,000 wounded
50,000 with PTSD-related symptoms (relying on Murtha's numbers)

Total of 67,000 casualties = about 6% of total forces deployed.

I say you'll know when the ratio of officers wounded and killed begins to climb in comparison to enlisted personnel wounded and killed. Right now it seems to be about 1 officer for every 15-20 enlisted. When that goes to 1 officer for every 10 enlisted, you'll have an early indication of fragging.

20. 2,149

from Yahoo

......The bombing northwest of Baghdad killed four Americans soldiers assigned to Task Force Baghdad which handles security in the capital and the surrounding area.

The deaths bring to at least 2,149 the number of U.S. service members to have died since the start of the war in 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
