No answers as the body bags mount up
By Marian Wilkinson in Washington and agencies
November 4, 2003

Behind the yellow ribbons and the "Support our Troops" banners, the brutal reality of war is hitting home hard across the United States.

After the worst single attack on US forces in Iraq since the invasion, mothers spent Sunday hoping the phone wouldn't ring and wondering just what forces were at work against their sons and daughters.

If the mothers were mystified, the Bush Administration also appeared unable to explain who was behind the growing insurgency.

Just hours after 16 soldiers died and more than 20 were injured in a downed helicopter, the Defence Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, was asked who he thought was behind the attacks.

snip....

Rumsfeld is admitting THEY DON"T KNOW Who we are FIGHTING
HEre is his quote

The idea that Saddam plan was to do that I think is far-fetched," he told NBC's Meet the Press. But he added: "What role he is playing today I don't know, we don't know . . . Is he interested in re-taking his country? Sure."

Its becoming clear to the world that Bush,Rumsfeld, and Colin Powell
may have been duped by Saddam in a brilliant strategy!!!Maybe Saddam wasn't as stoopid as he was made out to be. Our Intelligence in Iraq is blind and thats not a good thing! :bounce: and this article exposes that Rumsfeld has not won this war but may have made a major military blunder of huge proportions :bounce:

2. Saddam said
he'd fight an unconventional war, and that the Iraqi people shouldn't believe anything they hear on the news in the meantime.

Flypaper works both ways.

'Baghdad Bob' said the Americans did not hold Iraq.

People laughed at the time...but he wasn't joking.

4. It's the other way around, innit?
Hasn't the Military been duped into a Rumsfeld Trap? You know, send in a third of the force that's necessary to get the job done and pocket the savings?

:grr:

9. You are correct... Rumsfeld's "smaller, lighter, faster" ain't workin
Bush & Co. paid off the Iraqi generals not to fight. Smart?

Bush & Co. never got same Iraqi generals to turn over all their weapons and keep their soon-to-be-jobless troops in line. Not so smart.

5. We don't know who we're fighting..
Wow, that's scary as hell. Wonder what they're telling the soldiers? Maybe, "We don't know who you are fighting, but keep fighting!" If someone told me that, I'd go insane. No wonder morale is low.

I swear I've heard the same broadcast now for weeks. "A deadly day",,,,we had no time to react...there will be an investigation...

How long is the American public going to put up with this?

7. not enough capital letters in Q U A G M I R E to describe this
Saddam and his commanders had to be at least smart enough to know that they couldn't stand toe-to-toe with the US armed forces. So what were their options?

a. surrender

b. unconventional i.e. guerilla warfare

c. use of WMDs

d. other

Looks for now like they have chosen to fake a and really do b. Looks for now like they are doing well at it. This really really sucks.

8. I seem to remember Saddam warning Bush
that if he attacked Iraq, America would be taught a lesson they would never forget.

Strategy?

Are we about to learn a thing or two about why it's not a good idea to invade and occupy a sovereign nation?
