TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday that he was "honored" Cuban President Fidel Castro had referred to him as President Bush's "fat little brother in Florida."

"I'm flattered and honored," Bush replied with a smile, but then turned serious.

"I will take any criticism from Fidel Castro, of all people, as an honor given the fact that, you know, 8 million people, I believe, live on the island, 8 million people are repressed and they've been that way for 40 or 50 years," Bush said.

"To be criticized by a man like that who has repressed people for such an extended period of time is a high honor," the governor added. "He can call me whatever he wants."

just tell him to try running a small island nation of 8 million people under the ever-present influence of some large nameless nation that has decided to put military installations on YOUR land to "safeguard" their shores, blockades and embargoes the fuck out of every possible trade option you could hope to find, tells other nations that they MUST steer clear of your country (or they might find themselves faced with a "coup"), and doesn't allow you to make ONE decision for yourself and your people.

Ask him how he would manage to run that country, and if his answer is suitable enough, I might consider listening to one god-damn thing the man ever has to say again!

Of course you and I both forgot to mention that despite that treatment, said island nation offered to provide aid and assistance to said large nameless nation in one of their times of greatest need (during which time the administration of said large nameless nation failed miserably at every task relegated to them).

Only an idiot like _Bush would actually believe that one old man could repress over 11,000,000 people in Cuba, especially considering that Cubans are among the most activist populace on the globe. Cubans have a long history of overthrowing governments that do not represent them - including those like Batista's blood soaked regime that was fully backed by the US government/military as well as backed by US organized crime syndicates. Even the CIA's own annual reports on Cuba admit that the vast majority of Cubans support the post '59 revolution.
