Democrats open second front against Bush in war over Iraqi secrets

Top Democrats in Congress are planning a second, "independent" investigation into the role of the White House and the Pentagon in processing pre-war intelligence on Iraq. snip

Senior Democrats have accused the committee's Republican chairman, Pat Roberts, of giving top White House and Pentagon officials an easy ride. According to Richard Durbin, a Chicago senator and SIC member, a public split and new inquiry is inevitable.

"We want to know whether the administration put pressure on the agencies to come up with certain kinds of information. It's the very question that has been explored at great length in Britain at the Hutton Inquiry," he told The Telegraph.

"If the Republican leadership of the Senate Intelligence Committee is determined to protect the administration at any cost, we'll do the investigative job on our own."

2. This is national politics, sweetheart. Not the PTA,
well, sometimes a local PTA has held back awhile. :D

The very best thing may never happen. However, sometimes good things happen to those who wait.

Just a thought,... or two.

3. I miss the Independent Prosecutor
I never thought I would miss Ken Starr. If the power to appoint a partisan independent prosecutor had not quietly expired in 1999 we would have an entirely different Washington DC today. I hated how irresponsibly the Republicans abused the office but I would welcome it back today.

4. Congress is controlled by Republicans
Republicans have their paint brushes, cans of whitewash, lipstick and rubberstamps out to to coverup what they can, put lipstick on pigs, and stamp approval on the rest

We've been saying that the DEMS have no spine and cave-in, but you also have to look at the REPUGs flagrant disregard for the best interest of the people and to become a gaggle of goosestepping goons for Baghdad Bush

No information or conclusions of substance will be found in any of the investigations as long as the REPUGS continue to block and cover Baghdad Bush

6. Time for more letters
This time, I'll save the postage and only write to the Dems. If they want to develop spines, I'm going to encourage them.
