Car bombs kill 48 in Iraq; Bush says war on track
Don't think this is a dupe - gotta love the headline

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/BAK955493.htm

BAGHDAD, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Car bombs killed nearly 50 people in Iraq on Saturday, a day after more than 80 died in suicide blasts across the country and as U.S. President George W. Bush pledged never to relent in his war on terror.

In Saturday's deadliest attack, a suicide car bomber blew up his vehicle near a crowded condolence tent during a funeral for a Shi'ite tribal sheikh in a small town north of Baghdad.

Police Colonel Muthaffar Aboud said 35 people were killed and around 50 wounded in the attack in Abu Sayda, near Baquba, a violent city about 65 km (40 miles) northeast of Baghdad. The wounded were taken to at least two hospitals in Baquba.

Iraqis traditionally set up tents to receive well-wishers at funerals. The fact the funeral was for a well-known local leader suggests the tent would have been packed with mourners.

2. Then Bush is right. The numbers are declining, down form 80 to 50.
Boy, were we wrong. Stay the course, George.

4. Insane George
and his cronies are the only ones who can say this war is "on track", All of the death, bloodshed, and misery on both sides are nothing to him. We are all mere pawns in the neocons dreams to establish an empire, and loot the world of all the riches they can.

He will go down in history not only as the worst U.S. president, but also as one of the worst leaders the world has ever seen. The pain this administration has inflicted on the world is unconscionable.

5. He's still repeating the same old BS today (Sat). Guess he really
doesn't keep up on the news. You'd think after Gen Casey's plan, the calls from various churches, the scene on the Hill, etc. He'd make a couple of changes to his stump speech.

Bush: We will stay in Iraq fight

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/11/19/iraq.bush/index.html

BUSAN, South Korea (CNN) -- In a speech to U.S. troops in South Korea, President Bush on Saturday rejected Democratic calls to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq, vowing to "stay in the fight until we have achieved the victory our brave troops have fought for."

"In Washington, there are some who say that the sacrifice is too great, and they urge us to set a date for withdrawal before we have completed our mission," Bush said Saturday. "Those who are in the fight know better."

"So long as I am commander-in-chief, our strategy in Iraq will be driven by the sober judgment of our military commanders on the ground," he said, adding that U.S. troops are "making steady progress" in training Iraqi forces to defend their country.

"As Iraqis stand up, we will stand down," he said.

The president also made the argument that the U.S. operation in Iraq is part of "our work for peace and freedom," which involves "great sacrifice by our troops." (Watch video as president states Iraq case -- 6:56)

7. "Victory"? What victory?
The Iraqi people want us out. They are determined and will prevail. The only question that remains is: How many more of our troops and Iraqi civilians will die or sustain horrible injuries before the American people demand an end to it and the repukes capitulate, fearful for their political lives?

The question came to President Bush from one of the correspondents traveling with him, the second time in two days on his weeklong tour of Asia that he's faced questions abroad on his handling of the war in Iraq.

"Mr. President," the correspondent asked during a joint news conference with South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun, "Vice President Cheney called it reprehensible for critics to question how you took the country to war, but Senator Chuck Hagel says it's patriotic to ask those kinds of questions. Who do you think is right?"

Pausing for a moment, the president answered in clipped fashion: "The vice president."

Mr. Bush was quick to note as well that "people ought to be allowed to ask questions."

9. HA! Sure ask away, just don't expect any truthful answers and don't
be too offended when we resort to name calling if you're questioning our "authority" and judgement. :eyes:
