U.S. Inquiry Over Afghan Bodies Completed
KABUL, Afghanistan — A U.S. military inquiry has been completed and will be released soon into television footage purportedly showing American troops burning the bodies of two dead Taliban fighters, a U.S. spokesman said Monday.

Cremation of corpses is banned under Islam and the alleged act sparked outrage here. The government demanded that those responsible be punished.

The U.S. military launched an inquiry into the alleged desecration, which was recorded on video last month by a freelance journalist embedded with the U.S. troops in volatile southern Afghanistan.

"This report has been completed," U.S. military spokesman Col. James Yonts told reporters. "It is in the final process right now and we expect those results to come out soon."

1. I just love these sorts of things..... If the president on national
television, speaking with his entire cabinet, suddenly broke into dance, cursed them all out, did back flips, wet his pants, pounded his shoe on the table.... if he did all this on NATIONAL TELEVISION, there would have to be a long drawn out investigation (and an agreed upon conclusion) to make sure it happened. Same thing with the prewar bs, same thing with so many things.... these investigations of all this sort of KNOWN ISSUES makes me think that they are going to eventually investigate whether the sky is blue, the sun is hot, and whether or not the dog really ate gw's homework.

2. Allow me to predict...
There was nothing done by US servicemen that could be construed as either criminal or immoral. The fact that this was even brought to international attention is simply an effort to smear the US military. There is no evidence of wrongdoing, and the matter is now closed.
