Syria must do more to control its borders: Straw

Syria needs to do "much more" to control its borders and prevent fighters from entering Iraq, British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said Thursday during a visit to Baghdad.

"There is a need for Syria to take much more action to control entry to its territory and from its territory," Straw said during a joint news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari.

1. I get the impression that, in fact, Syria is doing nothing wrong

2. That's a little like Cuba demanding the US do more to seal the
boarders.

It seems to me if the so-called coalition is now finally changing policy and deciding to have a closed border policy, then it's their responsibility to enforce that policy.

4. The dishonesty is staggering
The insurgency is 95% Iraqi.
Of the 5% foreign fighters, 70% are from Saudi Arabia.
There's a Saudi/Iraq border which was left completely unguarded when the idiot Bremer fired the entire Iraqi border patrol in 2003.
Mr. Straw might wish to familiarize himself with the facts, rather than perpetuate these incessant lies:

""Martyrs" in Iraq Mostly Saudi"

5. Absolutely
I have tried repeating this fact to the Faux-watching crowd and get this deer-in-headlights look before they start up on Syria again. It's hard to argue with people that brain-washed.
