War anxieties erode support for president (Chicago Tribune)
Snip:

"CINCINNATI -- The political conversations behind the cosmetics counter at a downtown department store here have started to worry Catherine Green-Steffens, a faithful devotee of President Bush.

First, she listened as a few colleagues griped about the decision to go to war with Iraq. Then, after Baghdad fell, the complaints intensified and turned personal with daily casualty reports of U.S. soldiers. Now, she has found herself defending a president who seemed so popular only months ago.

"I've always liked Bush. I've always believed in him and trusted him," said Green-Steffens, taking a break Wednesday at Hathaway's Coffee Shop. "Do I like war? No, but I didn't like Saddam Hussein, either."

After taking her last sip of coffee, she added: "But you've got to wonder if this will hurt Bush's chances. I'm afraid it probably will."

Excellent article! "Man on the street" perspective!

2. DEAR GOD
"Every time an American GI gets killed over there is another problem that President Bush is going to have."

Now I know why these selfish bastards support Bush - they are as heartless and cruel and nonthinking as he is. Our young soldiers are dying EVERY DAY and THEY are worried because it hurts their precious King George. F***ING SICKENING. *puke*

Vietnam Before the attack on Iraq started!

I got to wonder about this Catherine Green-Steffens and just how Gullible is she? She doesn't like war but she doesn't like sadam, either...does she have any children over in Iraq? Would she like to go over there and keep the "peace" with the other uninformed Soldiers who are dying daily? She's very cavalier with other People's kids if she doesn't.

6. Oh
great yodeling Christ. Those latte-lovin' Saddam haters. WTF does this broad know about Saddam? WTF does she know about Iraq? WTF does she know about anything outside of the United States of America and what Faux Snooze tells her? She thinks that just spouting the right-wing catch phrases somehow makes her oh-so political and oh-so clever?

Phuckov.

11. Right as rain, LEW
A lot of people have invested a lot of serious intellectual and emotional capital in these lying thieves, and the psychological wrench of freeing themselves isn't going to happen overnight. It's up to us to keep the pressure applied for our relatives, friends and neighbors who still think that Lil George is basically an honest, decent man. They don't have to see him as the antichrist, but a more reasonable assessment of this murdering thug will make sure that they don't vote for him again in 2004, and that's really all we need, isn't it?

12. How dare those soldiers die and create problems for W?
This for the "we support the troops" people. Remember the rallies? remember the "Shut up! Think of our troops?" Remember "they are not pro-war, they are pro-troops? How long ago was that? 3-4 months?

13. These people who still back Bush
need to have pictures of dead and dying soldiers and civilians stuck in their faces, pronto..they need a reality check, as they sit in their comfy offices making assinine statements about their Tinpot God W...
But Dover Air Force Base and the coffins are closed to the media, and our kids over there are bleeding to death while NO pics are allowed of the graphic horror..
Anyone who voted for Bush, or backs him in any way, has the blood on their hands and I spit with contempt on those armchair warmongers and chickenhawks who continue to back this killing field.
