Rasmussen: Kaine 49% Kilgore 46%
Heading into the final weekend of Election 2005, Democrat Tim Kaine has a narrow lead over Republican Jerry Kilgore in the race to be Virginia's next Governor.

The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll shows Kaine with 49% of the vote while Kilgore attracts 46%. This is the first time all year that either candidate has reached 49% in a Rasmussen Reports poll.

State Senator Russell Potts, a Republican running as an independent, currently earns just 2% of the statewide poll.

Last week, Kaine was ahead by just two percentage points, 46% to 44%. The candidates have been within three points of each other in six consecutive polls conducted since Labor Day.

Tuesday could be shaping up into something really nice. Kaine in Virginia, Corzine in NJ, Karl Rove's towel boy Arnold and his wacky initiatives going down in flames here in sunny California, and all that in one day?

Nice. What a lovely Weds morning breakfast for Der Shrubbins!

4. That's exactly what I was thinking.
I'll be watching for the exit polls, to compare with the vote count. But I really don't know if I can trust the exit polls, since they were changed last year to match the vote.

5. They had touch screen switching in 2004 election; and other things
Fairfax County (Touch screen switching from Kerry to Bush, touch screen default to blank on presidential race, machine problems/long lines, intimidation, registration problems, voter suppression, malfeasance) based on large Election Incident Report System(EIRS)

Halifax County
Broken machines/long lines/voters not allowed to vote

Prince William
Machine problems/misfeasance/suppression

Richmond
Improper purging of vote roles/registration problem with DMV registrations

Statewide( Student vote problems)

http://www.flcv.com/virginia.html

If Virginians want a fair election they had better have lots of monitors and a big EIRS effort; otherwise its a game

She never received the ballot and claims that a number of her fellow student didn't receive ballots either.

But they weren't the worst:

12. in my VA district
the good old fashioned pull-the-lever way. No Diebold in sight thank goodness!!

A Kaine win would be great for Virginia and send a warning to the GOP all over the country that scare tactics & cultural wars may have run their course.

During last night's VA Tech/Miami college game, Kaine ran TV ads in Spanish. Not a bad idea.

17. If you mean they wouldn't bother stealing it
I disagree. They pulled out every election-stealing trick they knew so they wouldn't have to give up a measly House seat (OH-2)

8. not evil
just exceedingly poorly educated, strapped-for-cash and/or jobless, isolated Christians.

They're voting against their best interests because they don't know any better (Richmond Times-Dispatch endorsed Kilgore)

Kilgore is a liar, just like Bush is a liar. And he's doing everything he can to exploit those poor-middle-class voters who think they made Jesus happy when they voted for Bush (attaching himself to Bush, getting Rove on the bandwagon, running a gross smear campaign questioning a set of Kaine's moral beliefs, etc.) What a disgusting little fucker

9. I have wingnut cousins who live in
Virginia and they'd vote for anything with an R attached to it. In their little world Clinton and minorities have created all of the problems that befall us, and repukes can do no wrong.

10. We live in VA. My mother said they could put Jesus up as
a Dem, and Republicans still wouldn't vote for him.

Hope I didn't offend any Christians, here. Just aggreeing w/ your assessment that they'd vote for anything w/ an R attached to it.

7. I hope Kaine is planning on fighting the results in court.
I hope Kaine doesn't concede like Kerry did. Because they have not fixed the vote rigging problems and it will be stolen again. Brush is coming in at the 11th hour so that when it is stolen, the repukes can say they were inspired by our wonderful pResident. Stand by, the fix is in.

11. I used to live in Washington DC. It was so striking: when we'd
cross the river into Virginia I'd get this "I-don't-feel-comfortable-these-are-not-my-people" feeling, but when I went north up into Maryland I felt fine. I know that there are lots of well-educated liberals in No. Virginia (in fact, that area is in the top three or so best-educated areas in the country) but I just never felt at home in ol' Virginny.

24. Anything North of Cville and East of Harrisonburg in not South
I grew up in NJ and lived in NC for 17 years.... trust me, North of 64 and East of 81 is Mid-Atlantic, not South, not matter which side they fought on during the Civil War (and no matter how much they want to be Southerners!). MUCH closer to where I grew up in NJ than NC.

15. Every time we see "polls" that are this close, you can COUNT ON IT
that Diebold/ES&S, etc. are going to work their magic and make republicans the victors.

And, until the citizens of this country wake up, we're going to continue to have elections rigged, and we're going to continue to have republicans ruling EVERYTHING.

:kick:

21. Keep in mind it's a Dem admin in Virgina
If it's beyond 3 or 4 point margin, and Bush is stubbing for Kilgore, I'm thinking it'll have to be a major coupe de ta to gurantee success for them. I think if Kaine could get himself ahead in most polls by a clear 5 or 6% he'll win the election by 2 or 3. the Dems are counting so I think they'll be careful on election day. I hope at least =\

18. This will be another data point in the vote cheating debate.
It will bear watching for that alone. Personally, I find it hard to believe a majority of people could truly vote for Bush's party, after all the Bush disasters.

25. Bush to drop by the airport tonight for Kilgore-Local NBC gives a whopper
W is going to drop by the Richmond airport (in and out) tonight. They say free tickets are still available.

This seems to be a response to Kilgore not showing up at a Bush speech last Friday claiming prior commitments.

Our local NBC morning show made it sond like Kilgore was winning and that W was going to "widen the gap" between Kaine and Kilgore. No mention was made of Kilgore trying to stay away from W's trip to Norfolk. They never mentioned ANY poll numbers.
