Two Terrorists Self-Destruct While Building Car Bomb

[ECH1969]

Task Force Baghdad dispatched elements to the scene where two terrorists attempting to build a car bomb were killed when the device prematurely detonated in central Baghdad Nov. 2. Elements dispatched included an explosives ordnance disposal team and a patrol from 6th Squadron, 8th Calvary Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team.

The explosion also killed an Iraqi civilian and set a nearby house on fire. Iraqi firefighters responded to douse the flames.

The EOD team determined the terrorists had been building the vehicle-carried improvised explosive device using a 122 mm projectile, ball bearings and about 80 pounds of homemade explosives.

Explosives were designed to go BOOM. When you are messing around with homemade firing devices, mistakes are easier to make.

I have read that a really common mistake that guys like that do is they use only one color of wire for all the wiring, and sometimes they get the wires mixed up. Sometimes, even when they are color coded, they get the wires mixed up, .

First off, thanks for the welcome. Ive known about this site for quite some time and have read the content off and on, but just now made the decision to become active.

Anyway, my point is that these people (yes, suicide bombers are still people) were not born like this. Their beliefs run very, very deep and obviously are strong enough to make them want to end their lives over it.

Oh, my point. How did they get like this? Why are they willing to do this? I am not saying that resorting to suicide bombing to get your point across is good, just that I think istead of being glad they are dead we need to look at why they were willing to do this.

I am not happy that these people are dead. Yes, its nice to know that they wont be killing any innocent people anytime soon, but I wish they hadnt gone out like this. I wish that something had changed in their lives to make them realize this is not a good way to get their point across.

I look at it this way. If I were born in the same situation they were, hammered with the same philosophy, and all of that....I might be in the same situation they are.

I dont care if you care or not. I also know that I wont shed a tear tonight for the loss of these terrorists. However, I am not happy either and to be honest I am a bit sad that somebody had to resort to suicide bombing to get their point, which however wrong it was it was obviously strong enough in their eyes to do something this harsh.
