More subpoenas hit gov's office
November 3, 2005

BY DAVE MCKINNEY AND CHRIS FUSCO Staff Reporters Advertisement

SPRINGFIELD -- The fourth round of subpoenas in less than 10 days hit Gov. Blagojevich's administration Wednesday as a federal probe into hiring under the governor expanded to the state's prison system.

The governor's office confirmed that it received a subpoena seeking Department of Corrections hiring records for Blagojevich's first 34 months in office and the final nine months of former Gov. George Ryan's administration.

That delivery follows subpoenas to the Department of Children of Family Services and Illinois Department of Transportation seeking job-placement records for the same period of time.

(snip)

Despite signing a January 2003 executive order imposing a state hiring freeze, Blagojevich allowed for limited hiring to take place as needed so long as it was approved by the governor's office

1. How can he be such a moron?
Why would Blago think he's above the law when so many other governors in IL have been indicted?? makes me furious!

2. Sorry, I know little about the investigation
Whay are you jumping to the conclusion that he is criminal? There's not much meat to the story other than it appears that he allegedly violated his own executive order by hiring additional corrections staff during a freeze.

What are the background details this article is missing?

5. Not 'jumping', no he's got a 38% percent approval rating for good reasons
Only the "governator" has lower ratings nationally.

He's just manage to offend everyone, from day one.

1) The Catholic Church/Maryville scandal... basically a pissing match with the Catholic Church made him persona non-grata very early.

2) Aldermen Richard Mell (His daughter is Blago's wife) engaging in an unbelievable public/family dirty laundry tit for tat. Where there's smoke there's fire.

3) Destroying Public Education. HE BALANCED THE BUDGET ON THE BACKS OF CHILDREN!

4) The ICC/Exelon scandal.. Today his hack appointee was REJECTED by the Democrat senate.

5) Now this. My brother is in prison and they are FUCKING AROUND WITH THE GUARDS! So the guards are fucking with the INMATES! SO THEY WILL COMPLAIN! LOCKDOWN AFTER LOCKDOWN. INEDIBLE FOOD! MASSIVE CORRUPTION AND LOOTING OF THE STATE JOBS. SO LOOK THIS IS SO PERSONAL I CANT TELL YOU.
Blago plays POLITICS WITH PEOPLES LIVES! I HATE HIM.

4. Fitzgerald should run as Governor in 2006 or 2010 as an Independent
Illinois is worse than New Jersey in terms of political corruption of both parties. In New Jersey, Corzine would be winning the Governor's election by 15% instead of 6-7% if it weren't for the corruption of state Democratic officeholders.
