Dem senators demand Cheney 'housecleaning'
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 11:46 AM by rawstory
RAW STORY

Democratic Senate leaders Harry Reid (D-NV), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) issued a letter to Vice President Cheney Thursday calling for a "thorough housecleaning" in his office, RAW STORY has learned.

The letter notes that senior Cheney aides named in the Libby indictment are still working -- and in fact both have been promoted.

The aides are David Addington (who was promoted to the Vice President's chief of staff) and John Hannah (was promoted to be his National Security Adviser).

The letter follows (at link).

FYI: We just scrubbed popups on our inside story pages. There will still be one popup on the front page of Raw, but we wanted to give something back after our fund drive -- and the inside popups are the worst ads -- punch Osama and such, so they're gone for good. Thanks guys!

Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 02:31 PM by Uncle Joe
there are some peaches in there with mold all over them and some of those bruised bananas that fall apart in your hand when you try to peel them, and some grapes with white hairy stuff all over them, the whole damn kitchen needs cleaning.

P.S. We have chickens full of steroids, fish with mercury and pissed off cows too.

4. Cheney should be swept out of house, too, but he'll keep lying until
he's indicted, too.

6. Nice. Thank you Raw Story
as in Raw Story? Cool! Our very own envoy.

Anyway, I agree with other posters. I think the "housecleaning" should go a little further up - like with Bush. Bush himself mentioned "bad apples". We're looking at a barrel of bad apples. All rotten.

11. bush talks about bad apples? Takes one to know one.
I, too, think there should be a WHOLESALE housecleaning. And White House cleaning. And House cleaning. And Senate cleaning.

War Crimes Express - ALL ABOARD!!!

10. Yep. I don't like the idea of going only after the underlings
who are likely following orders, instead of going after the one issuing the orders.

I know this isn't the Dems' intention, but given how other events have played out (e.g., with Abu Ghraib, Katrina) there is a clear pattern of blaming the peons and letting the policy-makers off scott-free.

9. Republican-owned corporate media must change the subject.
I was watching CNN when Reid and Durbin came on live.....they started their statement, and then CNN broke away.

MSNBC did the same..... by switching to a story about two fugitives.

It is said that Scooter Libby spent much of his time "monitoring" TV interviews, radio interviews and journalist's reports. That is how he was able to control and manipulate the spin.

Democrats must do the same thing. If they do not monitor what is being reported....the American people will (to the benefit of the Republican-owned corporate media)only hear selected stories and viewpoints. it is a disservice to say " I never watch TV"...if you never watch, you will never know how stories are being spun....or at the worst...how stories are being completely omitted.
