3. Seven U. S. soldiers. Meanwhile the GOP traitors attack America.
Our soldiers should be defending America today. The right to vote, the right to choose, the right to privacy, and the right to live without Big Brother government/corpro fascists telling us what to do, are being attacked as our soldiers die for Halliburton and bu$hco in Iraq.

8. Actually, at this rate it will be 2200 by Christmas
(93 again next month would bring it to 2119, and an additional 93 for all of December would bring it to 2212).

I thought it was 2000 on Friday. You mean 26 Servicemen/women have died in just 2-3 days??????

on edit: I guess it was Tues., 10/25 (but announced on Wed., 10/26)that 2000 was reached. Still 26 young American men/women killed with 6 days time....what a waste. What a shame...

10. Am I the only one who wonders about these counts? Too low?
On CBS the other night Iraqis were saying the US dead is much higher.
The official count does not jive with what they are seeing.

11. Everyone wonders
The consensus seems to be that they are accurate, and that icasualties does everything in its power to count every death. I believe they do everything humanly possible to get the best count, but I won't be surprised if we find out there has been an undercount of 10% or so, when this business is finally done. Undercounting of deaths is a common feature of wars, I have noticed. Time will tell, I guess.

12. These counts are *not* accurate...
As far as I'm aware, I'm sure someone can set this straight, these "official" counts only consider those who have died in combat, in the field. If you are shot, and then die back in a MASH or somewhere else, you do not make the list.

More than 6 months ago I was seeing numbers as high as 6000 or 8000 total deaths. Haven't seen anything lately, but I'd guess 2000 is at least a little bit south of the real number of US casualities suffered in Iraq.

13. Suppose it is too much to ask for the press to get us the real numbers??
Silly me, they might actually have to do some work. What the heck do reporters do these days? Flirt and eat donuts I guess.

15. The DoD is keeping them under wraps...
For the same reason they fudge the selection criteria. Could you imagine if the total had just passed 3000 instead? The higher that number gets, the more people will take notice. It's in their interest to keep it low.

16. The icasualties people do try to cover that eventuality
The one about dying in hospital in Germany or the U.S., for instance.

I am convinced they go to every effort to get it right, but I would never dismiss the possibility of Bush-related duplicity. As I recall, people were quite surprised by Viet Nam when all the deaths were counted up - the same is certainly possible here.
