Bush advised to resist apology on Libby

The Washington Times

WASHINGTON -- President Bush should resist Democratic calls for an apology over the CIA leak scandal because he followed through on his pledge that those involved would no longer work in his administration, conservatives said yesterday.

While Sen. Harry Reid demanded yesterday that the president and Vice President Dick Cheney "come clean with the American public" and apologize for the actions of their aides in the Valerie Plame case, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said doing so would be ill-advised.

"What he has to say is that he has said all along that anybody who was implicated would be gone -- they are; that the standard he intends to set is exactly the standard he campaigned on; and that the U.S. attorney did his job," the Georgia Republican said.

"It would be a reaffirmation of Bush's commitment to honesty, not an apology, which implies that the president has not been honest."

5. Would anyone expect
anything more than "I'm sorry he did what he did"?
More like "I'm sorry that he got caught".

6. You just keep on being a classless dolt, Mr. pResident...we don't mind.
Junior can't apologize, because he's a lilly-livered, cowardly, undignified, classless piece of trailer trash.

We're witnessing living proof that money can't buy class.

I say--let's give these cretins just enough rope with which to hang themselves. A top official was just indicted for serious crimes. The pResident, with 39 percent approval ratings and several major blunders--doesn't feel he needs to let the country know that he's sorry that this happened.

Good.

Soon, Rove's chestnuts will be roasting over an open fire and the scandal will grow even wider. America's dislike for Junior will turn into complete and utter contempt.

It's a good thing that Junior isn't behaving like a human being. We don't need people thinking that he's decent, moral and dignified.

Let him be the petulant child he is. Let him dig his own grave.

14. douche
The terms douche bag, douche nozzle and douche for short are also popular derogatory terms of insult or ridicule. Such a person can also be said to be guilty of douchebaggery. These terms can mean a variety of different insults, and have become popular in the comedic media:

* Someone who is annoying, bossy or embarrassing.
* Someone who is stupid, intellectually challenged or mentally deranged but less than clinically insane.
* Someone who is unintelligently lying or scamming.
* Someone who is arrogant, elitist or snobby.
* Someone whom you don't like.

23. Yeah, I got that.
But calling someone a 'douche bag' as an insult, wreaks of sexism.

I generally agree with you. Reid's not impressive at all.

Rove's conduct merits the loss of security clearance and firing
at the very least.

19. We called it over the weekend
Reid said that Bush should apologize. A lot of folks said it would be a meaningless, empty gesture -- as if the Bush administration is about anything else. But they can't even do that, the bare minimum one might reasonably expect when the indictments come down.

Instead, they dig in, cry and bitch and moan about "criminalizing politics" and deny that anything untoward or even unusual has happened. Remember, Bush is the guy who couldn't think of even one mistake he's made as president.

And now here's a big fat one: The first White House employee to be indicted in 135 years. But from the Bushistas? "Nothing to see here. Move on. Fuhgeddaboudid.

How do you think this is going to play with his fundamentalist and evangelical base? That is, if those terms are supposed to have any meaning whatsoever?

21. I'd advise Bush to resist a post-conviction pardon of Libby, as well
If I were in bush's position I would not go there.

See, if bush pardons Libby, it will put his family's entire criminal enterprise in jeopardy within the republican party; moderates and patriotic republicans will be alienated by anyone who pardons a traitor. Scooter's got to take the fall, and he has to fall hard enough that no one doubts the bush's sincerity. If Scooter looks like he's about to sing, don't bargain, don't play the reward game. Kill him quick and be done with it. Make it look like a suicide, case closed.

24. What the hell good would an apology do?
Would we suddenly just say that all is OK? No we wouldn't. We'd beat up on him some more, and the White House knows it.

When you apologize you do nothing to mollify your critics. You expose yourself futher to your enemies, who just attack even more.

Liberals, there is a lesson here.

25. You don't apologize when you never, never do anything wrong.
* et al refuse to acknowlege any mistake of any kind. To apologize would be to open the door. Remember his stunned silence when asked during the campaign if there was anything he'd do differently? He is a frickin idiot puppet of the dark forces.
