Iraq conflict and aftermath has cost Britain 3.1 billion pounds
LONDON (AFP) - British involvement in Iraq has so far cost the country nearly 3.1 billion pounds up to the end of March this year, according to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The MoD revealed British operations in the Gulf totalled 910 million pounds in the last financial year -- April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2005 -- compared to 1.3 billion pounds in 2003/4.

A total of 847 million pounds was spent in 2002/3.

Figures showed the MoD spent 30.88 billion pounds overall in the year to March 2005, including 67 million in Afghanistan and 87 million in the Balkans.

3. What is the cost of a government policy to which its people...
...were opposed from the outset? Put a dollar value on that.

I don't believe this figure for a minute. In fact, even as a simple minded calculation it is completely false. But the ultimate concern is that such a figure is put out in the press as fact, when this is not even the way defense or government policy even figure costs like a child counting the coins in his pocket. It is pap for stupid idiots.

4. The Brits, and the rest of the world for that matter, have forked over a
mere pittance in comparison, but of course they likely don't let no-bid, unlimited-cost-overrun contracts to cronies.
