As CIA leak probe winds up, White House "following developments"

WHITE HOUSE As the C-I-A leak probe heads toward a conclusion, the White House says it's "following developments" -- but concentrating on other matters.

Press Secretary Scott McClellan says that means keeping its "energies focused" on things the administration "can do something about."

As he spoke, President Bush was convening a Cabinet meeting with an agenda topped by hurricanes Wilma and Katrina, and the war on terror.

With his grand jury's term due to expire on Friday, special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald could seek indictments shortly. He's probing leaks that blew the cover of a C-I-A operative whose husband was an administration critic on Iraq.

2. Don't you know he wants a drink so bad
Having to "act" presidential today with the grim reaper waiting stage right. And limbaugh, with a pocketfull of blue pills ready to rail against the "criminalization" of politics. Conservatives of the past thirty years will go down in history as a laughing stock of ignorance and hate; the pain they have cause the country notwithstanding.

3. I think the White House has been on the phone to Fitz.....
Have we forgotten how these guys operate? Do we really think that Bush and his people are just standing by because there's nothing they can do about it? If they succeeded in getting us into a war using lies and got away with it, don't you think they can "influence" Fitz?

5. Hopefully Mr. Fitzgerald won't be influenced by such fools.
However, your remark that we are still at risk from W is spot on. Wonder what form it will take - another TERA TERA TERA, bad weather, stock mkt crash.... like you, am not expecting any of them to go quietly or peacefully.

7. Wouldn't it be funny if Fitz had a similar recording as FEMA did during
Katrina...where after making people "hold" endlessles, they gave out a 'lame' recorded message, saying 'there was no one "available" to talk to them...so call back later, thanks.'

As we all know, the Admin. sure can "give it out," but have never learned to take 'things' equally in return.
