WP: In the Spotlight And on the Spot (Scooter LIbby)
Scooter Libby, Backstage No More

Sunday, October 23, 2005; A01

I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby is known for his sarcastic, world-weary and at times dark sense of humor. He once quipped to an aide that he planned to stay as Vice President Cheney's top adviser until "I get indicted or something."

That was during President Bush's first term, brighter days for the administration and, more to the point, before a special prosecutor was investigating Libby's possible role in disclosing the identity of a covert CIA officer, Valerie Plame.

The joke -- recounted by the aide, who no longer works in the administration -- sounded absurd at the time, given Libby's renown for canniness and prudence. He adheres to a favorite Cheney maxim that the vice president credits to the late Sam Rayburn, a longtime House speaker: "You never get in trouble for something you don't say."

Yet Libby could find himself in big trouble for saying too much. And this jibes with a lesser-known side of Libby, the audacious novelist and daredevil skier who has long been gripped with concern about exotic terrorist scenarios; who fervently argues his own viewpoints, particularly on matters of foreign policy; and who can become, friends and associates say, overly passionate in the face of opposing ones.

2. Here's why I asked...
From www.tomFlocco.com:

EXCLUSIVE: Bush—Cheney CIA/Plame case indictments released this morning

Bush orders Fitzgerald fired and espionage indictments quashed

Today Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald handed over 22 indictments to Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, accusing President George W. Bush, Vice President Richard Cheney and others of espionage, obstruction of justice, perjury and a variety of other charges in the matter of the CIA/Valerie Plame leak-gate case.

According to intelligence sources who spoke with federal whistleblowers Thomas Heneghan and Stewart Webb, Bush then ordered Gonzalez to fire Fitzgerald and have the indictments quashed and sealed. READ MORE http://www.tomflocco.com/fs/CiaPlameCaseIndictments.htm:crazy:

4. Flocco is considered a bit of a nut ....
I would imagine that he occasionally stumbles into the truth ... but whether THESE stories are real or not: Let's see what next week brings ...

SURELY: There would have already been a huge outbreak of visible anger if they handed down indictments against the POTUS and VPOTUS ....

So I doubt this story is true as of yet .... but you never know what is going to happen ....

Welcome to DU ....

3. The consensus is that Tom Flocco is NOT to be taken seriously.
Welcome to DU :hi:

About Libby, they're setting him up and framing all the stories for him to take the fall, so bush can keep Rove. I don't think all this posturing by the administration and D.C. insiders is going to affect for one second what Fitzgerald decides to do or not do.

5. Did you know...
that one of Libby's three positions is as "Adviser to Pres. Bush?" That makes it even more likely that Bush was aware of the plot to expose Valerie Plame. BTW, since Judith Miller wrote "Valerie Flame" instead of "Plame" in her now infamous notebook, I'm willing to bet that she got that information over the telephone. Why? Because b's, p's, and f's are linguistically interchangeable and often sound alike. When you're on the phone it's difficult to distinguish between a "p" and an "f". So the phone records should be checked very carefully in this case.:wow: :kick:

6. If there's fire, I have faith that Fitz will find it.
There's so much smoke, and I'm sure that he's going down avenues that we're not even aware of.

Hoping hard.

BTW, Welcome to DU Joyce! :toast:

7. Odd - the Boston Globe also ran a front page scooter-fluffer
Seems like scooter is getting his obits from the whore-media. I guess the rat-fucker game between rove and libby has played itself out and *surprise* libby is getting fucked and rove is the rat.

Too bad they don't have co-ed federal country clubs so judy-doody and scooter could shack up for their 'hard' time.

11. Wolfowitz quote
"He's always been excruciatingly careful, which is ironic in his situation," says World Bank chief Paul Wolfowitz, former deputy secretary of defense and a longtime mentor.

I'm praying that Wolfowitz gets "his".

That BIG rat probably thinks he jumped ship in time.
