Top Iraqi Shiite (Sistani) wants `yes` charter vote
BAGHDAD, Iraq (UPI) -- Leading Iraqi Shiite Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani has called on the country`s majority Shiite community to vote 'yes' in Saturday`s constitutional referendum.

A spokesman for Sistani, Sayed Ahmed Safi, said any objections had been removed by last-minute changes to the text endorsed by parliamentary on Wednesday.

'The Iraqi faithful must go to the polling stations to vote in favor,' he said.

1. Because...
...he sees it as a fine document to lead to a multi state solution. In other words, no more Iraq.

2. What does Sistani hope to achieve?
Does he want Iraq split up so that
Iran can eventually 'annex'a province or two?

3. I doubt this is exactly what he had in mind.
But I think he's in an awkward situation here.
He's been telling everybody to stay the course
and all, so to now say "Ooops, this is not what
I wanted" is an admission of flawed judgement.

4. Yeah, he got what he wanted from the document, so he wants it adopted.
The Kurds are also likely to be happy with it. The question is whether two-thirds of voters will vote agaisnt it in three Sunni provinces.

5. al Sistani is IRANIAN. The "constitution" turns Iraq into an IRANIAN
style Islamic state.

Gee, what a surprise that al Sistani is for the "constitution".
