US forces Hit Hard in Iraq
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/44E81869-CFE9-49AE-9554-8CBCBE5F9C1F.htm

<snip>
Five US soldiers were wounded in an explosion and shootout with resistance fighters in Khalidiyya, west of Baghdad, in the latest in a wave of attacks targetting occupation forces on Saturday.

"At 7:15pm (16:15GMT) a bomb exploded as a five-vehicle US convoy passed through Khalidiyyah", Yasser Hamdan, 42, told AFP.

The blast was followed by a rocket-propelled grenade attack and a firefight, said witnesses.

Two of the wounded are said to be in serious condition. Two US military vehicles were completely destroyed

....I hope this is not a dupe, have not seen it anywhere else.

1. I thought
the US forces were hitting hard instead of being hard hit.
The occupation seems to be costing more and more.

2. Hmm, only US forces- no "Coalition" deaths, huh?
Remeber when Bush/media told us "New Europe" would have our backs??- ...And that we did not need the "irrelevant" UN???

I dont see any stories about them dying or forking over cash...

The "Coalition of the Willing"- another BIG lie from Bush/media...

4. How many does that make today and last night?
Edited on Sun Oct-26-03 10:16 AM by Mari333
Its hard to keep up...including the suicides..
In the meantime, mothers and wives and families are getting the phone call..
You son/daughter is dead.
And then the bodybags are snuck onto planes, and the caskets are unloaded in the dark of night. Any reporters going near are stopped or shot.
and the US public goes about its business, unaware of the toll of death and horror.

5. This is simply obscene
This whole miserable thing is an obscenity. Our troops are getting killed and maimed...just like the beautiful young man in that photo. We are destroying an already suffering country, letting our own citizens sink to depths of poverty and despair, and all to satisfy the bloodlust and greed of a few cowardly, evil men.

Bring our troops home now! Mari333, I'm so glad for your son getting out. I know this is deeply personal for you, and also know that you feel as deeply passionate about bringing them all back.

<snip>The Kurdish Taekwondo team was heading back to Kirkuk from a Baghdad tournament when they came under attack.

Doctors said that three of the team members were in serious condition and had been operated on five times.

Several other attacks were also carried out across Iraq in the past 24 hours, targeting either the US forces or Iraqi police, Aktham Sulaiman, Aljazeera's correspondent in Iraq, reported

“An Iraqi police station came under a series of attacks in the city of Mosul,” he added.

......This is why I go to Aljazeera. It gives a complete rundown of the tragic events in Iraq daily. As opposed to the drip here and there of information in our own press.
