Venezuelan Gasoline Arrives in Houston
By Bloomberg, AP and Staff Reports

Citgo Petroleum Corp. received a shipment of 240,000 barrels of gasoline Monday at the Port of Houston.

Citgo's parent company, Petroleos de Venezuela SA, sent the shipment as part of its pledge to provide 1 million barrels of gasoline to help alleviate fuel shortages in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

"We are doing our utmost to keep supplies to the market and fight any price speculations," said Citgo CEO Felix Rodriguez.

The company's refinery in Lake Charles, La., remains shut down after being pummeled by Rita. But Citgo refineries in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Lemonth, Ill., continue to operate.

Those refineries are "all the more important as we do everything we can to prevent product shortages from becoming any more acute," Rodriquez said.

2. This means that citgo prices should be going down lower than other

3. Paid $2.79 yesterday at a Citgo near work
That's 15 to 20 cents less than the going rate around here (North Texas). Don't know if it's got anything to do with this.

Filled up the other car at Costco this morning and it was $2.85.

5. "Hugo's" -- I like that!
It's no longer Citgo -- from now on it's Hugo's.

I don't have a car anymore, but my daughter just bought a Civic Hybrid. She still buys at Costco or Arco because they're the cheapest. I'll betcha if I get her a Citgo card, though, she'll gas up at the Hugo's near where she works.

:D

7. Lots of Citgo stations around Brevard, NC.
I usually buy petrol at the Citgo in Quebec, NC (closest station to me), between Brevard and Lake Toxaway on US-64. That Citgo station now has a new outdoors outfitter (fishing, hiking, etc.) next door (out in the middle of nowhere!). That makes it an ineluctable stop.
