SPI: Pentagon repositioning war on terror
"WASHINGTON -- Given the chance to talk to the defense secretary, one solider from the 101st Airborne Division asked what was on the minds of many: When will the worldwide fight against terrorism be over?

"I mean, should I get my 3-year-old ready for air assault school?" the soldier asked Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld during an Iraq tour last month.

"I wish I could give you a date, but I can't," Rumsfeld said. That would be like estimating when a town will no longer need firefighters or police, he told the soldier."

Rummy can't give a date because you will never win a war against *A TACTIC*.

1. Some day we will all live in harmony and worship
the Judeo-Christian God, which is bigger than the Muslim God, and we will all have blue eyes, which are better, and white skin, and look up to our flag with pride. Some day we will win the war on terror and never be afraid again. It will just require killing a few billion people. Shouldn't take too long, actually.

2. I think the Iraq war really screwed things up
Now, extremists are up in arms all over the world and the ranks of Al Qaeda are stuffed like cheese sticks.

Now, we are even more unsafe than before. I believe that there are only a few brigades here in the US.

3. Sure does seem to help certain folks out when the U.S. has enemies...
Edited on Sat Oct-25-03 03:06 PM by KeepItReal
Like Republicans who under peacetime prosperity can't win (fair) elections (i.e. Saxby Chambliss' punk ass comparing war hero Max Cleland to bin Laden)...also helps out old Cold-warriors like Rummy and Cheney who used to be underemployed...also helps out once-struggling defense contractors...

War is good for business - as long as you know the right folks and are in the right business.

8. NO one is re enlisting
and their military is increasingly turning away from Rummy..I can only hope they reach a point where the military families just say NO and run their kids the hell out of the country when the BFEE calls them up.

10. Yeah, they really miss them communists.
Until the terrorists came along, it just wasn't any fun anymore.

Before the communists, there were anarchists. They were good, too.

5. Come on folks. If you had financial ties to the defense
corporations when would you want the war to be over? How can you get billions for defense unless you have an enemy? And this is great, because terrorists are unseen, unknown, and when ever you need them, they can be conjured up. And considering the US created most of the terrorists in the world, it makes it even easier to have a "perpetual war". And Americans seem to be brain dead to the fact we need this war and we have enemies. $87 billion could have bought a lot of peace. Before Bush, we were in a position to coerce and force peace around the world. But the Bush group - with all those ties to defense companies, went the way of war.

I am reading Al Frankin's book on liars. He asked Perl I think it was (one of the Neo-cons) how he could get in on the financial killing that was going on. He said to join his fund.

6. This just sickens me.
They're circling the net. Will the rest of the world shut us down economically to stop the impending, neverending assault on the world?

And check this out:
Putting American troops on the front lines exposes them to attack, however, and Osama bin Laden and other terrorist leaders have told their followers to attack Americans in Iraq. U.S. forces now face about 25 attacks a day there, from supporters of deposed President Saddam Hussein and Islamic extremists.

"We believe they see this as the Super Bowl," said Col. Jackson Flake, chief of staff for the Army's 1st Armored Division in Baghdad. "Here's a place they can come and fight Americans."
So, it's all just another Big Game, eh, Flake? What a karmic name for the man...

11. Why wait till we're in Iraq?
The tourism industry isn't completely destroyed yet, let's attack Americans wherever: EuroDisney, soccer games, beaches, cruise ships, any old place.

There isn't a safe inch of ground on the planet as long as George and his fascist restricted country club gated-community idiots are in charge.

7. When will a town no longer need
firefighters or police?

When all of the houses have burned down.
When the people have been robbed of all their possessions.
When there are no longer any people living in the town.
