Democrats say Bush not backing U.S. Guard, Reserve
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N24295758.htm

WASHINGTON, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Democrats on Saturday criticized President George W. Bush for opposing expanded health care insurance for U.S. National Guard and Reserve troops as they are pressed into extended service in Iraq.

Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, giving the Democrats' weekly radio address, said the Bush administration wants $87 billion to rebuild Iraq and keep U.S. troops there but opposes a Senate-passed measure to guarantee health care coverage to all members of the Guard and Reserve.

"They say it's not related to the war effort. But they're wrong," Leahy said. "And it's time for the country to come together to support our reservists, their families and their employers."

The House of Representatives did not include the expanded insurance coverage for Guard and Reserve members in the version of the bill it passed earlier this month.

1. Guardsmen saying Bush not supporting Guard
My husband works with a Guardsman who has just come back from one tour and is preparing to go on another any day now. He is disgusted with Bush and how vets and military people are being treated.

2. Great.
Taunt the Iraqis to "bring 'em on," send in the ill-equipped or trained NG to get killed and maimed by those rising up to the challenge, secretly ship the casualties back to fetid warehouses in the U.S. then tell them they get no health care from the government they were supposedly "protecting." Hey, what's not to like?

3. And right-wingers wonder
why we hate Bush? My question is, why doesn't everybody else? This is absolutely shameful, to treat National Guard and Reserve troops in this manner. No, we can't provide medical care for them, not when there's an extra penny to be squeezed out for Halliburton.

9. "Democrats say..."
"Democrats say..." Why is it that anytime there is ANYTHING critical of the Bushies, the "librul" media always has to preface it with "Democrats say..." This has become SOP lingo for them.

Like that makes it immediately suspect. You really can't trust if if a democrat says it. Isn't that what they are implying? Arghhh!! :grr:  :puke:

10. Since it's so fashionable to question peoples' patriotism -
Then they should question the patriotism of those who do not approve of giving our military the BEST care and benefits possible.
