US soldier killed by Baghdad bomb (#1944)
http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=2049352005

The attack occurred in northern Baghdad, said Sgt David Abrams, a US military spokesman.

The victim was not immediately identified pending notification of his relatives.

The attack raised to at least 1,944, the number of US military members who have died since the beginning of the US-led invasion of Iraq in March, 2003.

Meanwhile, a suicide car bomb exploded near a US military convoy in the city, killing one Iraqi woman and wounding four others.

3. Last night
I wept for Andrew Bedard, only 19 years old.

This morning the local news reports found on the internet on the deaths of Roberto Baez also just 19, Brian Large 31, and Jacob Vanderbosch 21, had me in tears.

It's simply overwhelming. It'd be so much easier to leave them numbers, to wave my flag and say 'USA USA USA. yay war. Remember 9/11!' My heart won't let me. It's all so senseless.

May they all rest in peace. Too soon and for what?
