Two U.S. Soldiers Killed in Mortar Attack in Iraq
Didn't see this posted yet.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Two U.S. soldiers were killed in a mortar attack near the Iraqi town of Samarra Friday, a U.S. military spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said four soldiers were wounded in the attack, which took place just before noon around 100 km (60 miles) north of the capital Baghdad.

1. Horrible. Every day. Rumsfeld called them "onesies and twosies"
I believe I heard Lou Dobbs say thats what Rumsfeld called them.

2. ooooo how I hate that man!

(Smirky Rummy boy I mean).

I didn't think it was possible to hate someone you don't personally know.... but every time I see his smirky face on TV it makes me want to slap him silly. He is smirkier than Dubya.

edit - in the interest of fairness, I did a google search and Rumsfeld apparently referred to Saddam's Fedayeen as "onesies and twosies", not US soldiers. But I still hate his smirkiness.

3. "threesies" so far the tally for today
Did Rumsfeld really say that? I can imagine he would, but my God, how cold. And coming from the Secretary of Defence....

Why, why, why am I still shocked by these bastards?

4. I'm pretty sure I heard Lou Dobbs refer to Rumsfeld having said it.
More than a month ago. The context was something about Rummsfeld's description of things being "untidy" over there and Dobbs said that the "onesies-twosies" remark by Rumsfeld deserved an aplology.

5. I wouldn't put it past Rumsfeld to do that.
Just couldn't find any reference to it on a google search. Maybe it's not documented. Didn't mean to undermine what you said, just that I couldn't find it.

7. Does anyone have a citation for "onesies and twosies"?
That's in the tradition of:

"Are more people going to die?  You bet!"

- Donald Rumsfeld, July 13, 2003
