Iraq war musical "Let's Kick Ass!" premieres in Denmark

COPENHAGEN (AFP) - A musical about the Iraq war, "Let's Kick Ass!", was to open in Copenhagen, featuring a satirical depiction of US President George W. Bush and his faithful ally in Iraq, Danish Premier Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

"Let's Kick Ass!", a reference to a Bush quote, is an adaption of British musical "Follow My Leader" by Alistair Beaton, which targets Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The show, sung in Danish, gives a satirical account of a White House breakfast, a meeting of CIA agents Laurel and Hardy at the Pentagon, features the "tropical paradise" at the US detention centre in Guantanamo Bay, and gives a biting account of the Danish parliament's narrow vote in favour of sending troops to Iraq.

1. We are a laughing stock
Thanks to our imbecilic POTUS.

Jeez.

I'd like to see the play though. I'm just embarrassed at what this jackass has done to our good name.

2. Holy jumping catfish, that man with junior looks exactly like
my father in his youth. I mean exactly. If Dad was still alive he faint. My father died two weeks ago at the age of 93 in Colorado Springs where I was born and raised.

6. Bush Is Bad Opens at the Triad Theatre Sept. 29
The musical revue Bush Is Bad, subtitled The Musical Cure for the Blue-State Blues, officially opens at the Triad Theatre Sept. 29. Previews began Sept. 15.

Joshua Rosenblum's revue, according to production notes, "aims venomous, highly partisan musical barbs at the President and his dissembling gang of conspirators, resulting in a take-no-prisoners show." Directed and choreographed by Gary Slavin, the cast features Kate Baldwin, Neal Mayer and Michael McCoy.

The Bush creative team includes Anne Auberjonois (costume design), Tonya Pierre (lighting and sound design) and Colin Stokes (set design).

Described as a cross between Forbidden Broadway and "The Daily Show," Bush Is Bad is "a left-eyed look at the current sorry state of affairs in American government. It's the truth told bluntly but not savagely, with wit and without malice." Song titles include "How Can 59 Million People Be So Dumb?," "Good Conservative Values," "The Gay Agenda," "John Bolton Has Feelings, Too" and "New Hope for the Fabulously Wealthy." <snip>
