Mass. lawmakers override veto of emergency contraception bill
BOSTON — The state Legislature voted Thursday to override Gov. Mitt Romney´s veto of a measure that will expand access to emergency contraception.

The measure, which the Republican governor vetoed in July, will require hospital emergency room doctors to offer the medication to rape victims. It also will make the medication available without a prescription.

The Senate voted unanimously 37-0 to override the veto. In the House, the vote was 139-16 to override.

The governor said the medication, known as the "morning after pill," is already widely available without a mandate from the state. Romney said he was concerned that the hormone regimen could abort a fertilized egg.

4. A modest proposal re: contraceptives
Any pharmacist who refuses to dispense contraceptives should be held liable for child support.

If the woman is a rape victim, he should be prosecuted as an accessory after the fact to the rape.

8. Did it ever occur to him that the only reason a woman would take
the "morning after pill" is to avoid a fertilized egg implanting.

17. Taxes.
There's a virulent strain of Massachusetts voter who votes taxes
uber alles. They think it's a good thing that Mass gov't has been
kept divided with Dems holding the State House and Repugs the
Governor's chair, and generally speaking, this hasn't worked
out too badly for the state.

But Mitt is clearly different: he ran only to achieve a launching
pad for the presidency in 2008, and you may yet learn to loath the
phrase "President Romney".

He could have been cut off at the knees, but the Democrats, as usual,
played it safe and stupid, and in the primary defeated a real democrat
in favor of a "safer" choice; the result was Governor Romney.

15. It's nice to see when blatant partisan politics gets an ass kicking...
Such an overwhelming overriding of a veto shows gov. Romney´s loyalty lays with the repukes rather than the people.

colossal racist failure*.

22. Morning After Pills are nothing more
than high dose BIRTH CONTROL Pills. As an older women, these pills probably aren't very much higher than what I took years ago every day as my birth control. I am not dead. I don't have breast cancer. All smoke screens put out the religious right more concerned about fertilized eggs than LIVING, BREATHING human beings.

And when I missed a day or two of these pills, my doctor told me to take two or three a day to make up for it. Surprise!!! There is your MORNING AFTER PILL. Duh?
