Feingold Wants All Troops Home By Dec. 2006
Political Analysts Say Wisconsin Democrat Positioning For Presidential Run

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold has taken a position no other senator has: he's called for a target date to pull all forces from Iraq.

Feingold, a Democrat, says the United States should set a date -- Dec. 31, 2006 -- when all troops would be returned home.

Some say he's setting himself up for a run for the White House. Political analysts say the move is not politically motivated, but politically calculated, reported WISC-TV in Madison.

"I would guess that he has thought this through, understanding that there are political implications," said Brandon Scholz, a Republican strategist. "But it is certainly calculated."

2. Good move! If they *all* do this, the Repubs won't be able to take credit
for withdrawing the troops and "winning" the war.

3. You know Cons want some sort of victory
to crow about. Looking for some way to claim victory in the real war on terror. Of course Bush already stated nobody would win "it".

4. Dec 2006?!?!?
At the current rate of causualties, another 2000 soldiers will die and another 20,000 will become disabled by then... BRING THEM HOME NOW! Our military won't be able to sustain that kind of loss.

5. Stuckinthebush wants all troops home now
December 2006 is too far away.

This war is too costly, too stupid, and too deadly.

6. Now that Feingold is getting alot of media attention, he should sign on to
the DSM investigation letter signed by 10 other senators.

Feingold signing on now would be a great way to restart the DSM as a news story.

7. The Army is officially scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I'm in the IRR and I just got called up.

I knew there could be no real talk of a drat until the IRR was activated.

Well, it's happening. The just called up my 47-year old ass for Operation Iraqi Freedom. :puke:

After they call up old farts like me, there is nobody else.

The next step is a draft. We will be in Iraq for years.

8. Of course its calculated! There are no accidents in politics.
It's also meaningful.

Anyone with two brain cells knows this is calculated. It distinguished himself as a Democrat with backbone.
