Pro-impeachment congressmen still 30 votes shy
By Delon Porcalla
The Philippine Star 09/02/2005

The opposition suffered another setback yesterday in its bid to impeach President Arroyo after another lawmaker withdrew his endorsement of the impeachment complaint.

Nueva Vizcaya Rep. Rodolfo Agbayani’s withdrawal leaves the complaint 30 votes short of the 79 signatures needed to send the complaint to the Senate for trial.

Last Wednesday, the House of Representatives’ committee on justice junked the last of three impeachment complaints for lack of substance.

That moved the battle to impeach Mrs. Arroyo to the 236-member House, which will vote on Monday whether or not to junk the committee’s report on the complaint.

2. Rats. I thought we were 30 votes from impeachment here!
And if what I'm hearing about Bush** diverting money from levee maintenance to his little G.I. Joe sandbox in Iraq is true, impeachment will be on the table.

No wonder Bush is so proud to know her. She's done a lot with a much smaller realm.

11. Hey, Are You Too Cheap to Correct the Headline? Crave Attention?
You are cheap if you think you have to use a misleading (not specific enough) headline to get the attention you crave.

17. Many Americans are woefully ignorant of what is going on outside of
the USA. The possible impeachment of the President of a large country (and an American Ally to boot) should be pretty big news.

18. A CORRECTION
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 10:39 AM by progressivedancer
My name is Ben, and I can probably describe myself as a progressive democrat. I am Filipino American and I returned to my country this march after a very very long absence.

I have to say that I don't want our current administration to be impeached. Although Arroyo's record isn't perfect, she is the only person in this country with the vision to move it forward. I know that to many of you, human rights is very important, it is to me too, but all I can do for now is to point out to the government its mistakes and how it can correct it. Managing a third world country is very difficult and is something people can only fathom by having lived their.
Our country is poor, and many are voting with their feet to leave the country. The Philippines is the world's largest provider of professionals. We have a highly educated pool of people, but politics have rendered the country helpless so people are leaving. Since we are desperately trying to put our country together we need the favor and friendship of Bush. Bush has been hostile to any country who criticize its handling of ANYTHING. If our country gets on the bad side of Bush, the poor will certainly suffer more and I know they can't afford to lose another cent because i've seen them suffer, i live beside them now. I hate to see our president cuddle up to that bastard president, but WE need American aid here in the Philippines. I'm afraid my country will just have to swallow their pride for a while.

For example, last year our President withdrew its 50 troops, JUST 50, from Iraq to save the life of a Filipino engineer hostage. Due to Arroyo's actions, the Bush adminstration threatened the Filipino American community with mass deportations of those awaiting court cases with the INS. This has scared the Filipino American communities, but no one really has noticed. Much of America is oblivious and empathetic to the trials of immigrants, they "steal" jobs. I would just like to say that the Filipino/Filipina Nurse has been instrumental in alleviating the acute Nursing shortage in America. We try our best to give back to our adopted country and threats of massive deportation to harmless Filipino American immigrants awaiting their cases to be resolved shows how the Bush administration have damned Americas immigrants.

24. You don't know this, but that is the OP's consistent style.
He pretty much NEVER posts anything positive about Dems, or good news about liberal or progressive issues.

But if it's our side taking a hit, he's one of the first to post the news. Make of that what you will.

32. Lotsa plugs for Senator Nelson, who totally supports Miami right-wing Cuban
"exiles." He has learned they can make life a living hell for him if he doesn't.

They're the reason the F.B.I. named Miami "Terror Capitol of the United States" during the time they were bombing the living hell out of each other in Miami. Monsters.

They also are the ones who conducted a terrorism campaign against the old publisher of the Miami Herald, long ago, when it dared to print articles which didn't please them. Their little dictator, C.A.N.F. head and thug, Jorge Mas Canosa, who put out the word on the Herald, took out advertising on the sides of buses saying "I don't believe the Herald," and the Herald's top officers started receiving death threats. Then their paper vending machines in town were covered with human feces.

The publisher, David Lawrence and his wife, BOTH, started having their cars checked before starting them, fearing they were rigged to blow up.

Yeah, Senator Nelson has decided to become a CANF puppet, and seek the complete support of these right-wing monsters, for some reason.

SEveral of your examples of how you have been known to support Democrats, favor Nelson. One favors Diane Feinstein, a faux Democrat.

If that's the best to do, it's totally understandable.

Why would the Democrats of California, who are hardly a conservate lot, keep nominating a "faux Democrat?"

31. Thanks. I noticed this, too, with deep disgust. It's such a repulsive
trait, and deeply dishonest.

Can't imagine ANYONE spending so much time, shuffling through so many headlines, day in, day out, in order to post so many articles which either glorify or gleefully boost Bush, or stab Democrats in the back, all on a DEMOCRATIC message board.

Second rate behavior. Underhanded.
